Remember how I said a few weeks ago that the whole “Athletic Chic” look was not my style. Well, now I’m eating my words.

About a month ago, I started going to the campus rec center fairly regularly to lift some weights (ugh, I am so weak). This has caused me to really dive into active-wear and gym fashion. 

At first I would just change from my normal day outfit into a gym appropriate one and would then go work out, but that can get tiring and annoying to change part way through the day after awhile.

So my solution is to start wearing outfits that are appropriate for both the gym and the rest of the school day.

So here are a few things to do if you want an outfit that will look cute for school and the gym:

1) Half & Quarter zips: Gosh, I love these things! They look so sophisticated and professional compared to other gym outerwear. If you live in a warm climate, you can get ones that are lighter; and if you live in a cold climate, you could get a fleece lined one. Depending on the temperature in your gym, you can either take this layer off and have a normal workout shirt on under it or you can leave it on.

2) Leggings: I love leggings because normal pants with crazy zippers and buttons just don’t seem to fit me. I’ll be honest, I like to wear 2 pairs of leggings at a time just to negate the see-through factor. I also love the workout leggings that they are carrying nowadays-especially ones from Forever 21.

3) Puffer Vests: To add another layer to your outfit during the non-workout part of your day, wear a puffer vest. They will add a little more interest to your outfit and give you an athletic outdoorsy vibe.

4) Sneaker Wedges: When these things first became popular, I was skeptical, but now I know why some people love them. They are the perfect piece of footwear to complete your athletic day outfit when you are not working out. Just remember to change out of them when you do hit the gym.

5) Dress up the hair: Because the rest of your outfit is so easy and simple, you have no excuse not to do something fun with your hair. If you like ponytails, curl the end or wrap a piece of hair around the elastic to cover it. Or why not try braids or a bun to switch things up a bit?

Each year, a ball is held to celebrate the Best Dressed List! This year, the Preview Ball's theme is Athletic Chic! Never in my life would I imagine that I would get to attend the most prestigious ball in Philippine Fashion! It was held last July 7, 2012 at the Seventh High! 

Joseph Aloysius Montelibano, thank you so much for making me like Cinderella that day! Joseph designed the vest I'm wearing, he was inspired by 18th Century fencing! Joseph paired the vest with a Polo by Ralph Lauren and shorts by Izaac Mizrahi! He even did my hair and grooming! Thank you so much! Joseph is extremely talented, just wait because he has something big in store for all of us which will solidify his name in the fashion industry! He is just bursting with ideas and talent which is why I am honored to wear him on the biggest event of my life so far!
