Middle Sky Boom & Eliezer
Alongside partner in crime Eliezer, Middle Sky Boom is bringing a retro-progressive sound to the Israeli electronic scene, fusing new wave synth sensibilities with vocodered vocals and burnished grooves perfect for the darkest hour of the night. On the duoās latest EP, With Screening, theyāve struck gold with this very formula, resulting in three original tracks alongside a remix by Italo legends Daniele Baldelli and DJ Roca.
Itās a tasty bit of work, so we got in touch with Middle Sky Boom to find out how it was influenced by Israeli winters and the Tel-Aviv club sceneā¦
Tell us about your artist nameā¦
Silly story: A few years ago I opened my Instagram account, then I noticed Iām the only one without a nickname. I started editing my name and āMiddleSkyBoomā just came out. Iām assuming it had something to do with the war at the time.
What sort of music were you exposed to when you were growing up?
My dad used to play me classical music and avant-garde jazz, while my mom exposed me to the freaky rock side, such as: Ian Dury, Frank Zappa etc⦠But [I] was more into hip-hop at the time.
When did you start making your own music and what was it like?
I think I was 13 playing around with Reason. It was very simple and melodic. Lots of beats and rapping in Hebrew.
What equipment do you use?
My main setup in the studio includes: -Juno 60 -Octa Track -TR8 -MS2000
Where would be the perfect place to listen to your music?
Hard to say. Some of it will fit the club at early hours, but I will go with listening to it in a car at night.
What fuels your creativity?
Weather mainly. Winter to be precise. I guess when āTime Stopsā I feel calm and inspired.
What do you think the future of music is going to be like?
I think we are in the future. Everything works, itās all about your expectations
Can you send us a photo of the view from your window?
Sure. 1st floor views [are] always less impressive though.

Does your local area influence the music you make?
In some sub-aspects maybe. I love the music created in Tel-Aviv these days.
Whoās your biggest local musical influence, past and/or present?
Itās hard to say influence, but I will name some local acts I like: Jack In A Box, Ateller, Red Axes, Castle In Time, Autarkicā¦
What are the top things youād suggest visitors to Tel-Aviv should go and see/do?
Night life got it right in TA. We have great orchestras, great clubs, wonderful independent galleries and friendly people.
Whatās the biggest challenge facing musicians in Israel?
Being original. But itās a global challenge.
What are the best music venues and record shops in Israel?
Honestly I donāt really shop for records, but I know we have some nice places such as Bvrly. Top venues must be The Block, Breakfast Club, Alpha Bet & Beit Hapsanter.
Where in the world would you most like to perform?
Perform and live @ NY. Fell deeply in love.
