Ok, so I'm like SUPER late to the party, but have just finished Gundam SEED Freedom and well..... holy fuck xD
First of all, I want to thank ALL THE GODS that the producers decided to come back to the roots and made Kira The Sad and Pathetic Potato of the entire movie *cough* and left my babies Cagalli and Athrun alone *cough*. APPRECIATED.
Too bad thanks to this Lacus was Sad and Pathetic Carrot for like 85% of the movie, but whatever.
Ok, so the good things:
-I've lost the count of how many times I repeated the scene where Athrun beat the shit out of Kira. The way I fucking cheered. My fave scene in the entire movie. My skin is clean, my crops are flourishing, my vision has been corrected, iâm hydrated and well nourished and the unicorns are shitting nuclear rainbows.
-Basically, Athrun being a badass, the voice of reason and a cool guy after the clusterfuck that GS Destiny was, made me content and happy.
-ASUCAGA FOREVER. My babies. Still keeping the ring and haumea necklace ;_;
-The fact that probably only Mu and Murrue, Athrun and Cagalli and Tori and the blue bird are the only couples that are having healthy sexual relationships is fukcing hilarious. Also the fact is this was the first time Kira and Lacus kissed. Like... I'm wheezing.
-Mu with short hair.
-Meyrin Hawke, I can't fucking believe but not only her hair improved but also her character. And I liked it!
-Haros. The little monsters should have been used like weapon since the first series.
-Yzak, Dearka, Shiho, Miri and the rest of the gang being alive and glorious like always.
-All the old music used.
-And sorry not sorry, but as much as I gagged and threw up into my mouth a little during every horribly pathetic and dripping with sugar and LOVE KiraxLacus scene I was still thankful it was them not AsuCaga.
I'm not going to moan about the bad stuff because it was MOSTLY BAD STUFF. Like, a new drinking game: take a shot every time someone say "love" and probably die from alcohol poisoning in the middle of the movie.
But.
I'm just really, really happy after so many years they managed to finish the series that made me write fanfiction, pulled me into my first real fandom, gave my first ultimate OTP.
Seriously, they unfucked AsuCaga, guys, only for this I would like this movie (even if it's really bad xD).

Yes, yes, yes. Very much so. While Fukuda seems to be going back and forth on the matter, the one very confirmed fact is that Athrun and Cagalli are working together, aware of one anothers feelings, and that Meyrin is not with Athrun. Athrun thinks of Cagalli naked. Athrun and Cagalli have their momentos to one another (most significantly the ring on Cagalli's neck), and they trust one another fully, especially in combat, somewhere that Athrun doesn't trust anyone (he notoriously didn't trust any of his teammates, even Kira, in SEED or DESTINY lol). SEED FREEDOM showed gaps in Lacus and Kira's relationship, but made a point of showing that Athrun and Cagalli have no trouble in paradise. They are secure between one another. To the point that Meyrin will work with Athrun and not cross those boundaries, as she did in DESTINY. I could even go so far as to say that they showed the significant discomfort around Shinn and Luna, who were still a very strong, supportive couple to one another, but there was no such tension between Athrun and Cagalli, a couple that had major issues in DESTINY. They're together, they're happy, they trust each other, and they know how to make it work. I want more romance scenes but I'm happy knowing that they're together now.
