I would love to see a raptor feature! my favorite bird is the American Goshawk :)
American Goshawk (Astur atricapillus), family Accipitridae, order Accipitriformes, found across Alaska, Canada, and the northern and mountainous western U.S. and western Mexico
In 2023, the Northern Goshawk was split into 2 species: American Goshawk and Eurasian Goshawk.
Goshawks will often overwinter in the Central U.S.
The birds prefer old growth forest with tall trees, usually with open hunting grounds in sight.
They prey on a wide variety of small to medium sized mammals and birds
I've only seen one once, sitting on a powerline, while I was part of a team surveying Goldeneye and Saw-whet Owl nest boxes in Alaska.
