There was a time in college where I got so bad at promptly doing my dishes that I became....... very creative..... ehehehehee... with my silverware. I definitely remember one dinner where, in place of a plate, I used a plastic lid, and instead of a spoon, I used tongs.

i read warmth and pirouette during my vacation and they were such FLUFFY reads that i literally didn't think to be torn apart by the 5th installation of the superior series

astrid mentioned in her author's notes that when she wrote superior, she didn't exactly have a grasp of levi's character yet (because when she started writing the fic, she had watched up to season 2 of aot). BUT I THOUGHT LEVI'S CHARACTERIZATION WAS PERFECT IN THIS FIC?? it was THE immaculate balance of nonchalance, seriousness and his version of love. i literally teared up okay

nah because while i nearly cried at certain parts, i also burst out LAUGHING (yes, laughing irl) at other parts. for example, this scene:

"Knock knock."

"Who's there." When she gives him a look, he asks in a proper tone. "Who's there?"

"Colossal Titan." (i was already laughing at this part hElp)

Levi sighs, shaking his head. "Colossal Titan who?"

"Pew," she says, waving her arm a little.

MY HUMOR IS BROKEN BC I LITERALLY HAD TO PUT MY PHONE DOWN FOR A MINUTE BC I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD. is it just me??? like i thought that was genuinely fucking funny and oc/hange's humor IS superior

anyways, the torture??? okay, listen. idk how she did it, but astrid managed to write non-detailed torture (thank god bc i suck at digesting that kind of information) AND still managed to make me feel tortured and hurt and desperate along with levi. especially the scene where dick (i fucking love oc's astute decision to call him that) lies about torturing levi the next day, and you can sense the pain and desperation that levi must be feeling. it's just written so, SO well!!

and even amidst that angsty-ass scene, there's still humor and i'm like laughing while tears are welling up in my eyes 🤨🤨

when oc's enduring the name-carving torture and she's trying to distract herself from the pain she just has this one thought and i literally laughed because i imagined that scene to be fucking hilarious

"She's written his name several times, after all, whether it be in copious amounts of paperwork, letters responding to people's inquiries about how the good captain is doing, or her own notes that she'll leave next to a cup of tea that will be as simple as dear levi, I accidentally put salt instead of sugar in this, sorry..."

I IMAGINED LEVI CURSING HER OUT IN HIS HEAD BUT DRINKING THE SHITTY DRINK ANYWAYS BC HE HAS A HABIT OF DOING THAT 😭😭

and later, when they're saved and levi's all 'damn we gotta be like less obvious or sumn 🤨🤨' but then he also confesses that if they weren't saved, he might've actually revealed some secrets because he couldn't fucking stand her getting hurt????????????? yeah. i felt broken but also healed. how is that even possible 😭😭😭

anyway, i love this. idk how but this was a perfect balance between humor and angst and fluff. i also don't know if i mentioned this before but damn, the words, the paragraphs string so well together???? like it's sooo coherent and silky smooth 😩
