I like to repost and write about different issues that i care about (mostly relating to exIslam). Often I might share posts that I only partially agree with (I won't specify where because I don't like having online arguments and believe it's pointless to try to define stuff I still can't define without proper research). My opinions are ever evolving and I am a staunch believer in pluralism. I also want this to be an open space for having uncomfortable conversations so we can further reach the objective truth(s)!

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah her pleased with him) reported that at the Battle of Hanain Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace te upon him) seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that:" And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess (iv. 24)" (i. e. they were lawful for them when their 'Idda period came to an end).

Narrated Ibn Muhairiz: I saw Abu Sid and asked him about coitus interruptus. Abu Said said, "We went with Allah's Apostle, in the Ghazwa of Bani Al-Mustaliq and we captured some of the 'Arabs as captives, and the long separation from our wives was pressing us hard and we wanted to practice coitus interruptus. We asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (whether it was permissible). He said, "It is better for you not to do so. No soul, (that which Allah has) destined to exist, up to the Day of Resurrection, but will definitely come, into existence."

((وَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنكُمْ طَوْلًا أَن يَنكِحَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَـٰتِكُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَـٰنِكُم ۚ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍۢ ۚ فَٱنكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ وَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَـٰتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَـٰفِحَـٰتٍۢ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخْدَانٍۢ ۚ فَإِذَآ أُحْصِنَّ فَإِنْ أَتَيْنَ بِفَـٰحِشَةٍۢ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ ٱلْعَنَتَ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَأَن تَصْبِرُوا۟ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ ٢٥)) سورة النساء

Jarir reported God’s Messenger as saying, “When a slave runs away his prayer is not accepted.” In a version on his authority he said, “If any slave runs away protection does not apply to him.” In another version on his authority he said, “If any slave runs away from his masters he has become an infidel till he returns to them.”

Jarir used to narrate from the Prophet [SAW]: "If a slave runs away, no Salah will be accepted from him, and if he dies he will die a disbeliever." A slave of Jarir's ran away, and he caught him and struck his neck (killing him).Grade: Sahih (Darussalam),

It was narrated from 'Imran bin Husain that: a man freed six slaves of his when he was dying, and he did not have any wealth apart from them. News of that reached the Prophet and he was angry about that. He said: "I was thinking of not offering the funeral prapyer for him." Then he called the slaves and divided them into three groups. He cast lost among them, then freed two and left four as slaves. Grade: Sahih (Darussalam)

Malik related to me that he heard that Umar ibn al-Khattab saw a female slave belonging to Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab. She was dressed like free (non-slave) women. He went to his daughter Hafsa and said, "Didn't I see your brother's slave-girl dressed like a free (non-slave) woman walking among the people and causing trouble?" Umar disapproved of that.

It was narrated that Abu Dharr said: “I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), which slave is best?' He said: ‘The one who is most precious to his master and most valuable in price.' ”

The treaty of Baqt, which involved notable sahabah ruler Abd Allah ibn Sa'd, "was a treaty between the Christian state of Makuria and the new Muslim rulers of Egypt in the 7th century. Lasting almost seven hundred years", of which "The most important provision was that 360 of their slaves per year were to be sent to Egypt in exchange for cargoes of wheat and lentils. These slaves had to be of the highest quality, meaning that the elderly and children were excluded. The slaves sent had to be a mix of male and female. In some reports, an extra forty were due, who were distributed among notables in Egypt. A tribute of 400 slaves was sent annually from Nubia to Egypt from the 7th century to the 14th century."

عنِ ابنِ عمرَ أنه كان إذا اشترى جاريةً كشفَ عن ساقِها ووضع يدَه بين ثدْيَيها وعلى عجُزِها وكأنه كان يضعُها عليها من وراءِ الثِّيابِ. خلاصة حكم المحدث : إسناده صحيح

عن مَيمونةَ أنَّها سألتِ النَّبيَّ صلَّى اللهُ علَيهِ وسلَّمَ خادِمًا فأعطاها ، فأعتقَتها ، فقالَ : أما إنَّكِ لَو أعطيتِها أخوالَكِ كانَ أعظَمَ لأجرِكِ

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported: Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) came and sought permission to see Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). He found people sitting at his door and none amongst them had been granted permission, but it was granted to Abu Bakr and he went in. Then came 'Umar and he sought permission and it was granted to him, and he found Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) sitting sad and silent with his wives around him. He (Hadrat 'Umar) said: I would say something which would make the Prophet (ﷺ) laugh, so he said: Messenger of Allah, I wish you had seen (the treatment meted out to) the daughter of Khadija when you asked me some money, and I got up and slapped her on her neck. Allah's Messenger (mav peace be upon him) laughed and said: They are around me as you see, asking for extra money. Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) then got up went to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and slapped her on the neck, and 'Umar stood up before Hafsa and slapped her saying: You ask Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) which he does not possess.... (remainder of Hadith)

It was narrated that Iyas bin 'Abdullah bin Abu Dhubab said:"The Prophet said: 'Do not beat the female slaves of Allah.' Then 'Umar came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the woman have become bold towards their husbands? So order the beatin g of them,' and they were beaten. Then many women went around to the family of Muhammad,. The next day he said: 'Last night seventy women came to the family of Muhammad, each woman complaining about her husband. You will not find that those are the best of you.' "

Yahya related to me from Malik that Abdullah ibn Dinar said, "A man came to Abdullah ibn Umar when I was with him at the place where judgments were given and asked him about the suckling of an older person. Abdullah ibn Umar replied, 'A man came to Umar ibn al-Khattab and said, 'I have a slave-girl and I used to have intercourse with her. My wife went to her and suckled her. When I went to the girl, my wife told me to watch out, because she had suckled her!' Umar told him to beat his wife and to go to his slave-girl because kinship by suckling was only by the suckling of the young.' "

'Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No man shall be asked for the reason of beating his wife". [Abu Dawud]. (Aster's note: some say this is sahih and some say it's daiif because of a broken chain in narration).

"فقد ورد عن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما أنه كان ينهى أن يقعد الرجل مكان جلوس المرأة حتى تمضي مدة زمنية بحيث يصبح مكان جلوسها بارداً سداً للذريعة وقطعاً لما يترتب على مثل هذا الأمر من فتنة......وعليه؛ فلا يوجد دليل من الكتاب والسنة على ذلك، ولكنه رأي رآه ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما، فإن أخذت به فهو حسن، وإن لم تأخذ به فلا حرج عليك إذا لم تتعمد ذلك، فيتوجه حينئذ القول بالمنع درءاً لأسباب الفتنة."

عن عائشةَ وأسماءَ ابنتَيْ أبي بكرٍ رضي الله عنهم: النِّكاحُ رِقٌ؛ فليَنظُرْ أحدُكم أين يضعُ كَريمَتَه. خلاصة حكم المحدث : صحّ موقوفا (some say that this is a daiif hadith, but most sources say that this is from the sahabah, feel free to correct me on this)

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." Not rapists, not murderers, not warmongers..

Narrated `Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, "Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people)." I said, "You have made us (i.e. women) dogs. I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I would slip away. for I disliked to face him."

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A woman should not fast (optional fasts) except with her husband's permission if he is at home (staying with her).

It was narrated that: Abdullah bin Abu Awfa said “When Muadh bin Jabal came from Sham, he prostrated to the Prophet who said: 'What is this, O Muadh?' He said: 'I went to Sham and saw them prostrating to their bishops and patricians and I wanted to do that for you.' The messenger of Allah said: 'Do not do that. If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone other than Allah, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! No woman can fulfill her duty towards Allah until she fulfills her duty towards her husband. If he asks her (for intimacy) even if she is on her camel saddle, she should not refuse.' ” Grade: Hasan (Darussalam)

روى الطبري في "تهذيب الآثار" (1/414) بسند صحيح عن فاطمة بنت المنذر عن أسماء بنت أبي بكر قالت : " كنت رابع أربع نسوة تحت الزبير ، فكان إذا عَتِبَ على إحدانا ، فكَّ عودا من عيدان المِشْجَب، فضربها به حتى يكسره عليها ". روى ابن سعد في "الطبقات" (8/ 197) بسند صحيح عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ:  " أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ كَانَتْ تَحْتَ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ. وَكَانَ شَدِيدًا عَلَيْهَا، فَأَتَتْ أَبَاهَا فَشَكَتْ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: " يَا بُنَيَّةُ اصْبِرِي فَإِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ إِذَا كَانَ لَهَا زَوْجٌ صَالِحٌ ثُمَّ مَاتَ عَنْهَا فَلَمْ تَزَوَّجْ بَعْدَهُ ، جُمِعَ بَيْنَهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ ". (" الزبير بن العوام ، حَوَارِيُّ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَابْنُ عَمَّتِهِ صَفِيَّةَ بنت عبد المُطَّلِبِ وَأَحَدُ العَشرَةِ المَشْهُوْدِ لَهُم بِالجَنَّةِ، وَأَحَدُ السِّتَّةِ أَهْلِ الشُّوْرَى، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ سَلَّ سَيْفَهُ فِي سَبِيْلِ اللهِ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ " انتهى من "سير أعلام النبلاء" (3/31).)

An old woman from Kufa, the grandmother of 'Ali ibn Ghurab, reported that Umm al-Muhajir said, "I was captured with some girls from Byzantium. 'Uthman offered us Islam, but only myself and one other girl accepted Islam. 'Uthman said, 'Go and circumcise them and purify them.'"

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "After me I have not left any trial more severe to men than women."

((O believers! When you contract a loan for a fixed period of time, commit it to writing. Let the scribe maintain justice between the parties. The scribe should not refuse to write as Allah has taught them to write. They will write what the debtor dictates, bearing Allah in mind and not defrauding the debt. If the debtor is incompetent, weak, or unable to dictate, let their guardian dictate for them with justice. Call upon two of your men to witness. If two men cannot be found, then one man and two women of your choice will witness—so if one of the women forgets the other may remind her.)) Quran (2:282)

It was narrated that Al-Ash'ari said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Any woman who puts on perfume then passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance then she is an adulteress.'"

Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saw a woman, and so he came to his wife, Zainab, as she was tanning a leather and had sexual intercourse with her. He then went to his Companions and told them: The woman advances and retires in the shape of a devil, so when one of you sees a woman, he should come to his wife, for that will repel what he feels in his heart.

رأى عمرُ أمةً عليْها جِلبابٌ فقال : عَتَقْتِ ؟ قالتْ : لا ، قال ضَعِيهِ عن رَأْسِكِ ، إِنَّما الجِلْبابُ على الحَرَائِرِ ، فَتَلَكَّأَتْ فقامَ إليها بِالدُّرَّةِ ، فضربَ رأسَها حتى ألقَتْهُ. خلاصة حكم المحدث : صحيح

وَعَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الْمَرْأَةُ عَوْرَةٌ فَإِذَا خَرَجَتِ اسْتَشْرَفَهَا الشَّيْطَانُ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ

Umm 'Alqama related that when the daughters of 'A'isha's brother were circumcised, 'A'isha was asked, "Shall we call someone to amuse them?" "Yes," she replied. 'Adi was sent for and he came to them. 'A'isha passed by the room and saw him singing and shaking his head in rapture - and he had a large head of hair. 'Uff!' she exclaimed, 'A shaytan! Get him out! Get him out!'"

Narrated Abu Bakra: During the battle of Al-Jamal, Allah benefited me with a Word (I heard from the Prophet). When the Prophet heard the news that the people of the Persia had made the daughter of Khosrau their Queen (ruler), he said, "Never will succeed such a nation as makes a woman their ruler."

إنَّ المرأةَ عورةٌ ، فإذا خرجتِ استشرفها الشَّيطانُ ، وأقربُ ما تكونُ من وجهِ ربِّها وهي في قَعرِ بيتِها

Surah At-Tawbah (9:29): Fight against the People given the Book(s) who do not accept faith in Allah and the Last Day, and who do not treat as forbidden what is forbidden by Allah and by His Noble Messenger, and who do not follow the true religion, until they pay the tariff (tax) with their own hands with humiliation (disgraced/belittled). 

Ibn Kathir recorded an incident of how the 2nd Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab dealt with non-Muslims of Syria by humiliating them.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads force him to go to the narrowest part of it.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Do not precede the Jews and the Christians with the Salam. And if one you meets one of them in the path, then force him to its narrow portion." ... [Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. And regarding the meaning of this Hadith: "Do not precede the Jews and the Christians": Some of the poeple of knowledge said that it only means that it is disliked because it would be honoring them, and the Muslims were ordered to humiliate them. For this reason, when one of them is met on the path, then the path is not yielded for him, because doing so would amount to honoring them.

Imam Abu Yusuf was a student of Imam Abu Hanifa (Asters Note: founder of one of the four major schools of thought in Sunni Islam), and during the era of Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid, he served as the Chief Judge (Qadi al-Qudat) in the Islamic state. In his book titled "Kitab al-Kharaj," he discussed the issues of jizyah (tax) and the responsibilities of non-Muslim subjects according to Islamic law.Regarding the clothing of non-Muslims, he wrote to Caliph Harun al-Rashid (Aster's note: defining clothing enforced by the outgroup to a certain group(s) is a form of discrimination)

وَلْيَعْلَمْ أَنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ تَجِبُ مُوَالَاتُهُ وَإِنْ ظَلَمَك وَاعْتَدَى عَلَيْك وَالْكَافِرُ تَجِبُ مُعَادَاتُهُ وَإِنْ أَعْطَاك وَأَحْسَنَ إلَيْك؛ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ بَعَثَ الرُّسُلَ وَأَنْزَلَ الْكُتُبَ لِيَكُونَ الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ لِلَّهِ فَيَكُونُ الْحَبُّ لِأَوْلِيَائِهِ وَالْبُغْضُ لِأَعْدَائِهِ وَالْإِكْرَامُ لِأَوْلِيَائِهِ وَالْإِهَانَةُ لِأَعْدَائِهِ وَالثَّوَابُ لِأَوْلِيَائِهِ وَالْعِقَابُ لِأَعْدَائِهِ.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: Suhayl ibn AbuSalih said: I went out with my father to Syria. The people passed by the cloisters in which there were Christians and began to salute them. My father said: Do not give them salutation first, for AbuHurayrah reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: Do not salute them (Jews and Christians) first, and when you meet them on the road, force them to go to the narrowest part of it.

( لئن عشتُ إلى قابلٍ لأُخرجَنَّ اليهودُ والنصارى من جزيرةِ العربِ حتى لا أدعَ فيها إلا مسلمًا ) خلاصة حكم المحدث : صحيح, الراوي : عمر بن الخطاب | المحدث : ابن الملقن | المصدر : البدر المنير | الصفحة أو الرقم : 9/192 | التخريج : أخرجه مسلم (1767) مختصراً

(( وَمَثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لاَ يَسْمَعُ إِلاَّ دُعَاء وَنِدَاء صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ)) (2:171)

مَرَّ بيَ النَّبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم بالأبواءِ -أو بودَّانَ- وسُئِلَ عن أهلِ الدَّارِ يُبَيَّتونَ مِنَ المُشرِكينَ، فيُصابُ مِن نِسائِهم وذَراريِّهم، قال: هُم منهم، وسَمِعتُه يقولُ: لا حِمى إلَّا للَّهِ ولِرَسولِه صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم.

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَاجَكَ اللَّاتِي آتَيْتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّاتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالَاتِكَ اللَّاتِي هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَامْرَأَةً مُّؤْمِنَةً إِن وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ إِنْ أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ أَن يَسْتَنكِحَهَا خَالِصَةً لَّكَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۗ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِي أَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا﴾ [ الأحزاب: 50]

﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ عَنْ أَشْيَآءَ إِن تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ وَإِن تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ عَنْهَا حِينَ يُنَزَّلُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنْهَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ﴾ (5:101)

Fatwa that states that anyone who isn't Christian, Jewish or Zoroastrian can't choose between Jizyah or conversion, but they should be fought till they convert

Fatwah that states that one should rather stay at home than go to work or any other place where the hijab is banned, unless the situation is dire

Fatwah that states that if a hijab ban in educational institutions were to be enforced, then one must leave education than remove their hijab

The hijab is better than work and studying, and if a hijab ban was enforced in any place of work or study then one should leave rather than taking off the hijab

"أن يقسط إليهم ويحسن إليهم إذا كان محتاجًا أو فقيرًا أو قريبًا، ومع ذلك لا يبدأه بالسلام، ولا يجعل له وسط الطريق إذا استطاع ذلك، وهذا كله معناه مضايقتهم حتى يدخلوا في الإسلام إذا كانوا بين المسلمين، إذا عرفوا المضايقة من المسلمين وأنهم لا يبدؤونهم بالسلام وأنهم يضطرونهم إلى أضيق الطريق صار هذا من أعظم الأسباب في دخولهم الإسلام وتركهم الباطل الذي هو سبب إذلال المسلمين لهم وعدم بدئهم بالسلام إلى آخره." حول الجمع بين حديث مضايقة الكفار وآية الإحسان "إليهم
