So there's kinda this thing where my parents are super homophobic, but my extended family isn't? And my mom's entire side of the family Knows I'm gay bc I put off some serious signs, so every time I see them over the holidays, they're v careful to say "boyfriend or girlfriend" in reference to me and last year my uncle gave me a collection of this indie magazine, and it had pieces on being gay and it was the first queer affirming thing I was allowed to own and I almost cried.
