i think there’s a ton of potential with those three bc murphy and bellamy are so volatile, and monty’s the kind of guy who could chill them out, and talk them down when they’re hurting each other/themselves. also monty thought bellamy was a dick at first, whereas murphy more or less fell for bellamy at first sight, so…maybe it’s not too much of a stretch to think monty was hatecrushing on bell at the same time murphy was pining over him. you could have monty standing up to bell, murphy watching in awe, and developing a kind of side-crush on monty and picking on monty more after that. you could have bellamy and monty arguing enough for it to turn into a hate-fling and murphy finding out about it and running away, and then the two of them having to haul murphy back to camp and maybe taking pity on his lovesick ass in the process and finding a way to make him stay. or i mean, really, monty hated both of them in the beginning so like, it could just be a plain old threeway hate-fling, that turns into something fluffier. or not. they’re like, three of the sassiest characters, so really anything that happened between them, sweet or antagonistic, i think it’d be pretty entertaining. 

here are some AUs ideas, just for fun - 

- bellamy and murphy are failing science, and also at impressing their cute tutor, monty.

- bellamy and murphy are burglars who specialize in knocking over electronics stores. they never met a security system they couldn’t hack, until they met monty’s. 

- monty and murphy are two kids in juvie who hate each other’s guts, until they they realize they have something in common - a crush on their probation worker, bellamy. 

- they’re all in juvie, bellamy and murphy are heads of rival gangs and fighting to win over monty, the hacker who can bust them out. 

- monty grows, murphy deals, bellamy carries the gun.

- bellamy steals monty’s milk money every day. monty hires murphy for (cheap) protection. monty doesn’t like either of them until he sees them fight, after which it’s a lot harder to ignore how attractive they both are. 

- bellamy and murphy bet a date on mario kart. monty walks into the game unaware and kicks their asses. murphy and bellamy figure they both owe monty dinner.  

and if i’m not boring you yet -

this random post is what got me thinking abt them. i bugged isaac with this headcanon where basically, the three of them decide to turn themselves in for their crimes - bellamy and monty for genocide, murphy for the two guys he killed. they go to trial, and bellamy and monty get let off the hook bc they’re seen as heroes. but murphy, eternal scapegoat that he is, doesn’t walk. so bellamy and monty bust murphy out of jail and they all run away together, and maybe they start a new, better society where monty’s the leader. and bellamy and murphy are monty’s right- and left-hand men, and the two of them end up getting along a lot better with monty holding them together and calling the shots.

last thing (i swear) - i think it’s cool how deal with guilt in such different ways, you know? like bellamy’s almost suicidal at times over all the blood on his hands…monty’s more pragmatic, like, well, i did what i had to do to save my friends, but he wonders if he was a coward to abandon his allies, and that eats at him. and murphy’s almost totally unapologetic - ‘they were going to kill me so i killed them, end of story’ - but then he shot raven, and if he sees her again that’s going to smack him in the face, more than it ever did before i think. so i dunno…maybe there’s a story in the three of them comforting each other, trying to be better people, doubting whether that’s possible…and like, forgiving each other, while struggling with forgiving themselves.
