Francesco Simeti’s “Bensonhurst Gardens” (2012) at the 18th Ave (D) station offers a respite, bringing nature into the daily commute. His imaginary landscapes are comprised of native flora and fauna that are culturally meaningful to the residents of Bensonhurst. Simeti has created a biological refuge in his new site-specific installation at @assemblyroomnyc. The environmentally challenged landscapes in ceramics and digital prints on linens in his solo show “Refugium”, create a home for animals and plants to inhabit an environment protected from exploitation and pursuit. On view through October 20 .
