"Clay objects have always been such a revealing part of humans’ archeological record. It is an enduring medium. I like that sturdy sense of permanence and history that comes with a clay vessel. The contrast of the flowers, their rich pigmentation and lifespan makes the whole scene feel fleeting. “If the clay is a person, the glaze would be the personality of that person. I think of making a piece from thinking the persona of the glaze, and the playground is where the glaze performs its own act and show its character (runny, crackle, shiny, drippy, crawling, grippy ). "Freeing myself from limiting to clay/ceramics and being open to other new materials really helped me develop the group of work. I feel like I am learning new language and it has been really exciting. When I worked with metal, I felt like I knew nothing, and I felt insecure but excited simultaneously.
