Alena has REPEATEDLY said that there were *multiple* kisses/more intimate-ish scenes cut from this season and it was because they were shooting at the peak of COVID before there were even vaccines. They were one of the first shows to ever go back. It was when restrictions were at their worst and it basically came down to 1) how bad surges were the week they were shooting that given episode and 2) the comfort of the actors that week. Obviously the week they shot this episode must have been a bit better because they had to be all over each other on that dancing scene so I'm sure it was more lax than normal but Alena was veryyyy vocal about the fact that in the "dirty little heart" bedroom scene where Emily tells Sue she loves her when Sue is crying there WAS a kiss that got cut and it was COVID. That was just one of them.

dickinson is already perfect, but imagine how much better it could've been had the writers and showrunner not been treated like absolute garbage the entire time. for weeks leading up to this strike alena has been super vocal about how much of a nightmare dickinson was behind the scenes. this just goes to prove that us writers will make magic even when they put us against the ropes.
