Intersectionality is vital for the liberation of multiple oppressed groups in order for us all to work together to reach the common goal of equity. 

Communication is key. I can’t stress this enough. When your partner is upset, uncomfortable, displeased, etc., it is imperative to ensure that their feelings are heard. This requires you to listen, ask questions and understand their perspective by using empathetic tactics. Love is patient and kind (13:4). Make your partners comfort a top priority- especially if you are in a long distance relationship. In this case, if you are already working through loving each other from a far and all struggles associated with it, then it becomes even more crucial to communicate your feelings and listen to each other in order to reach understanding and ultimately, a resolution. 

If you don’t know what happened in Lahore but you know what happened in Paris, ask yourself why the media doesn’t think the lives of people of colour matter enough to be broadcasted about. And then for God’s sake, be an ally and go out of your way to learn about the mass atrocities and disasters taking part in areas of the world outside of North America and Europe. Go.
