Ace Reporter, Master Teleporter
The reporting job was a simple one. Hearing about the suburbs of Fairview isn’t the biggest news in Cloudbank, but readers might be interested to note the new apartment block voted in for people who wanted an area with more open woods. In a city that could have everything, be anything, spaces in the inner city that were simply for plant growth were increasingly hard to find. Fairview, full of small trees, smaller cathedrals, and undeveloped plots of land, was the next best thing to the Country for some people.
Amelia Garbur couldn’t relate to that. She preferred cozy apartments in the bustling inner city, close to the news and to the beating heart of Cloudbank. Still, news was news wherever it took her. The approval to go there and snap some pictures for her article didn’t take as long as the boat ride to the district, which lasted for about ten minutes. The water spraying up from the edges of the bow caught the light strangely, and she took a moment to glance down into the dark waves.
Once she made her way down the roads to the new Fairview apartments, the associate editor zipped through to take pictures and check the voting statistics on the apartments. She shared passing smiles with the five new occupants, gave a couple of nods, and asked how satisfied they were with the residence. All in all, fairly typical.
