I fell behind quite a bit, because wdym not a month has passed and there are already three more chapters of unprofessional conduct and two other fics?!?!?!? How do you write so good in such a short period of time?!?!? I am genuinely amazed. How am I gonna find the time to read all of this?!?!? Just read chapter 6 and I think I’m gonna die from the amounts of pure joy it brought me. Please never stop creating
Oh hello! I'm so happy people are coming into my ask box! Thank you for your question!
"How do you write so good in such a short amount of time?
So the thing is, UC41 has actually been fully written since around March. I'm already working on the final three-ish chapters, chapter 12/15. A lot of writers post their fics once they're close to finished, it does take a little of the magic out to admit that, my bad, but that's the trick.
I'm aiming to post at least something every 10 days, whether that's the main fic, a side snack, or something here on Tumblr or a BTS on my Ko-fi.
Mostly this is about being disciplined and consistent for once in my life. I always joke that I switch hobbies every three months, and so far, this is the one that's actually stuck.
Since I clearly can't stop yapping and oversharing, here's a little behind-the-scenes on how UC41 came to be. I've shared bits of this in author's notes before, but figured it'd be useful to have it all in one place here!
UC41 actually started as a bunch of brainrot drabbles and one-shots that eventually turned into something bigger. I've got about six one-shots sitting in a semi-polished state right now, and another five in rough draft form. Not to mention the numerous others that are incoherent plot bunnies (outlines) that got rabid and need to be sorted out before they're allowed out of their cage.
I've been writing for a very long time, 23 years now. I did a lot of competitions and workshops growing up, got sent to stuff back in elementary, high school, uni for it. I may or may not have posted under different usernames somewhere else before this. But I have friends who finally pushed me to finally post on AO3, because, in their words, "it's good" (😳) .
I never really focused on sharing my writing before this, I was chasing the whole streamer/YouTube content-creator thing for a while (since 2017) instead, which never really panned out. I have a weird relationship with wanting to be recognized for what I make while also not wanting to be perceived at all *(kidding, mostly)*, it's part of why I hide behind an anime avatar while streaming.
But writing fic without any expectation of monetary gain or success attached to it, unlike YouTube, has genuinely reawakened the passion in me. ✨
