I haven't been on in a while due to the worlds craziness, but I'm currently very bored at work sitting at a desk...doing nothing. So as I doodle darksiders and dilly daddle, Please feel free to send any sort of questions or even some prompts!! 😄

17) Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.

All my life I tried to be good. After my parents being gone and dealing with Marcus' absence in my life, I promised myself that I was going to be better than them.

21) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?

I started out having a bit of a hard time with this project, because I didn’t know who to choose for my 5 creatives. I knew I had creative people close to me, that it would be easy to contact. But I struggled to come up with people that I don’t know. I mean of course I get inspired by people here and there, but there’s no one in particular that I can immediately name when getting asked who inspires me. Anyway, I came up with one guy after a while, named Powel Kuzcynski, but he was too busy, as I wrote about in a previous post. In the end I decided to go with my mother, Bente Brat, who is a textile designer. She does amazing work which I am surrounded by every day when I am at home, and I thought it would be fun to interview her and find out more about what she thinks about her profession.

My first idea, before I chose a creative, was to make a poster and have a picture/illustration of the creative in the middle, with the questions coming out from her/his mouth or head. But when I knew that I was interviewing my mother, I found out that a video would suit her work better, so that she could show some of it.

It was a lot harder to work with video than I thought. It was over Skype, so the connection was a bit of an issue and the time difference is 8 hours, so we had to plan a lot to make it work. I also had to figure out how to record the screen with the computer. After we had finished the interview the first time, I looked at the recording, and found out that I had recorded the whole thing without sound, so I had to get help from google again, and figure out how to record both the screen and the sound coming from the computer. I found an application, downloaded it, and thankfully it worked, but I couldn't hear what she was saying while I was recording. So I had to do the whole thing again without hearing her responses (My voice was not recorded either). I also had to learn how to use iMovie again, which was harder than expected, so yes... I had a few struggles.

All things considering, I feel like it did turn out pretty well. I am happy with the result. Some of her responses may make more sense to me, since I know her and her story, and her pronunciation is a bit off some times, but I hope it is understandable. I like the way I got the music to work in the background, and I feel like it give the video a little extra. The music are latin songs inspired by my mother and her love for that culture. The program didn't offer a lot of text options, so I went with something simple and sophisticated.

So, I got an answer from my top choice, Pawel Kuzcynski, which I am quite excited about. Sadly he was too busy, which was expected, but just the fact that he answered me is very exciting. 

I’ve seen his work in so many situations, and I always end up looking at them and thinking about them for a long time. His illustrations are very well done, and super clever with a deep meaning. And he has made so many! It’s amazing how he comes up with so much.

About me:

Some peopel say, that it's a surrealist drawings. But I think, that I'm a realistic illustrator of our time... our surrealist time.

I was born in 1976. In Szczecin (Poland). I have graduated Fine Arts Academy in Poznan with specialization in graphics. Since 2004 I deal with satirical illustration, and so far I have been rewarded with more, than 130 prizes and distinctions.

I only try to say, what I see. I'm not a messenger and I don't want change peoples. I'm happy, when peoples likes my works and when they find some important ideas... and after this, they begin to think about change ourselves.

Metaphor is a universal language. Sometimes a one good metaphor can explain better, than hundreds words. I try to say about world without words. It's very hard, but the pleasure is great when a peoples understand my cartoons.

and I'm observer. I like observe a peoples and a relations between peoples. We live together on this world so many years and we stil make the same mistakes. War, poverty, hunger, racial division, ecology, moneys... and I like drawing on this kinds of subjects, because this kinds of subjects is immortal and timeless as the art :)
