I’m so sorry this took so long 😩 the piece I was writing before this literally owned me. 🧎🏽♀️

Shota comes home to see you sitting at your kitchen table, the light above you illuminating the same books and paper work you’ve been drowning yourself in for months. It’s the end of the semester and as the days pass by your anxiety increases. The pressure to perform on your exams clouding your mind with doubt and fear that you won’t score high enough to be considered for your dream job.
You’re so engrossed in what you’re reading you don’t hear him walk up behind you.
“Kitten…” his hand brushes a soft stroke to the side of your face, “That’s not good for your eyes.”
His touch surprises you initially, until you hear his voice. Low and warm, pulling you out of your self induced tunnel vision. You lean into his hand, looking up at him as his lips curl into a half smile. You’ve seen that smile more times than you can count, and it melts you every time. You lift your hand up to his, still resting on your face and weakly return a tired smile.
“I’m fine, Sho. Having all the lights on at once was giving me a headache, but this is a little better.”
He hums a disapproving growl, raising an eyebrow in suspicion.
“How much water have you had today?”
Your eyes instinctively dart away from his gaze before you respond.
He shakes his head, brushing your hair back before he leans down to press his lips against yours. He pulls back, letting his thumb trace the outline of your lower lip.
“You’re a terrible liar.” He smirks at you, moving toward the kitchen cabinet to pull the pink cup Eri picked out for you when you moved in together. He fills it up with water and walks back toward you holding it out for you to take.
You roll your eyes, taking the cup from his grasp and eyeing him while you taking a few sips before setting it down.
“There, now I’ve had more than enough.” You smirk up at him.
“Oh?” He steps closer to you, his fingers tilting your chin up to study the lines around your eyes your persistent studying has etched into your face.
“How long have you been sitting here?”
You wrack your brain, trying to come up with a lm acceptable amount of time to report but you haven’t been keeping track of the hours that have passed since you’ve eaten last. You bite your lip, unable to push out another lie fast enough.
“I see.” He read you like an open book, the words you didn’t say written all over your face. “Time for a break then.” He moves around behind you to pull your chair back from the table before scooping you into a bridal hold.
“Sho!” You protest, looking up at him as he carries you to the bedroom. “My exam is in two days, I need to-“
“You need to get rid of your headache so you can study effectively.” He looks down at you in his arms, a grin spreading across his face.
“And since you won’t accept the help I was giving you earlier, we’ll have to resort to other methods.”
Heat floods your beneath your skin, blooming across your face and neck as his hands grip your thighs just a little tighter.
And suddenly the thought of anything else but him evaporates from your mind.
