It had been approximately seven months of this and Levi wasn't sure what was more difficult: keeping it a secret or actually being in a relationship. It wasn't that he was incapable of having feelings or being in a committed relationship, it was just difficult. It was difficult to open up to someone after so long. It was difficult to let his feelings show. It was even more difficult to let his guard down. He wasn't sure how Petra put up with him.
That was another thing. He was in a relationship with Petra Ral. Petra. His subordinate. She was younger than him, by quite a bit, and he was in a position of power. Maybe that's why they both decided to keep their relationship between them and not let anyone know about it. Neither of them was sure how the rest of the Corps would react (or the higher ups).
It wasn't all bad though. It wasn't all stressful. It was nice to not sleep alone. It was nice to know that after a bad day, he had someone to turn to. They didn't even have to talk, because Petra's presence alone had a soothing effect on Levi.
After a long day of training, Levi was in his office, getting through the annoying part of his job: the paperwork... evaluations. After observing the training, he had to grade each member of the Scouting Legion and make notes about what they could improve. He would also put in word if he had his eyes on anyone to join his squad.
He absentmindedly reached for his tea mug, only to realize it was empty. That was odd. Petra was usually on time with his late afternoon tea. He slowly set the mug down and stared at the door, wondering if she was going to come in any second now or if he should get up and get his own tea.
