As to headcanons, I suppose any theory about Beatrice I post in this blog can qualify as such. I try to back it up with a lot of cross-references and canon quotes, but ultimately these are still just theories, not canonical material. Some of these guesses MAY be the answer that Daniel Handler intended to imply, but there is no way to confirm this 100%. When I write theories for this blog, I’m always reminded of this quote:

But even though there is no way of knowing for sure, there are often ways to know for pretty sure.[Lemony Snicket, The Vile Village, Chapter Four]

Nevertheless, I’m convinced that Daniel Handler has a much clearer and simpler idea of what he’s doing; he actually enjoys writing events and clues in a deliberately obscure and vague manner. It’s not that he wants to confuse readers per se, more like he thinks his works are more enjoyable if the reader has to ask questions and peruse over them obsessively. He probably has in his drawers a long backstory about how the Schism happened and whatever happened to Fernald’s hands and why Beatrice stole the sugar bowl from Esme… but he genuinely thinks his books wouldn’t be better if he included these answers. Sigh. More work for me.

11: If you could bring back any character, would you? If so, whom? 

Charlie. I miss her, I miss the boys having a sister, I think she was great (and hey, I am not asking for much, she's still alive! this is something in SPN :) ) and I'd hope to see her interact more with Sam, they could be great nerd friends :)
