I’m Just a Kid - Simple Plan

This is what inspired his background (More to come later) but it also is a good symbol of his depression and how he feels inside.

Serena’s first article she ever wrote was when she was seven years old and her parents had been on a tropical get-away on Hoenn. It was about a contest she had seen, her first, and described how she felt and what she saw watching it. 

Her parents were impressed with her work, and sent it in to a localized children’s magazine in Kalos, and it got a marginal amount of attention with how well detailed it was. It’s the first step for her getting into journalism.

Volkner’s first pokemon battle was something he saw on TV. Not only was it on TV, but it was his father of all people participating in an event being held in Kanto. He was still small, only 5 years old but he remembers it really well, and how he felt. He was super excited, and wouldn’t shut up about it to his mother who only laughed in exasperation. It was there he saw a raichu being used, and he decided he wanted to use electric type pokemon, like his dad.

Where was he? Volkner couldn’t remember. 

The last thing- the very last thing he could recall was that giant red thing attacking him. Honestly, Volkner wasn’t even sure it was a pokemon at this point. His pokemon went down hard and fast, and then it was followed by himself. His head was bleeding and it hurt bad, he must have gotten hit there and his arm.. well. The giant gash was enough to convince him to try and get help. 

A soft light illuminated the darkness of the thick trees, and though his voice felt hoarse and he had to clear his now dry throat, he called out in a croak of cries to try and get their attention. The dim light shone brighter as the person turned towards him, holding it up as if trying to see who was calling out in the jungle of the island.

Aside from being a joke and probably something Volkner plays when he’s ready to smoke five packs of cigarettes because of Flint, it also can show his depression and how he needs his friends to hold him together, they inspire him, and it shows an eagerness he doesn’t outwardly show to be “Awake” and not depressed.

This is a good AU for Wes and Rui, but also it makes me think about how they think of each other after going their separate ways. That pinning but never really getting anywhere with it.
