Too many to count. I’m constantly doing a reread. I’m never not in the middle of a reread. I have the book constantly open. I’m going insane.

I find that the book gets sadder with each reread. When I read the book for the first time, I didn’t cry until the “My poor Jude” speech right at the end. But now? Every little scene makes me misty-eyed because now I know.

What’s more is that with each reread you notice more little details that you might’ve missed the first time around. Not only details, but you find a deeper understanding of each scene, each character, each line, and you can better spot parallels between them (there are so many parallels in ALL) because you know the full story now. Sometimes a reread will leave you understanding more, sometimes a reread will leave you with more questions.

So ghosts, right? Every culture has some sort of story about the unquiet dead, in the land of the living where they don't belong. And it's always something to be feared. But every culture also has rituals for grief and mourning, because humans hate it when our pack bonds break. Surely ghosts should be a good thing, right? The chance to see a lost loved one again? But they're always scary.
