Otolin smiles. 

There’s nothing fake about how his lips curl, how his head tilts, or the warm look in his features at the mention of the Roegadyn. He hums thoughtfully, and then lets out a sigh.

For Otolin, the answer to the first part of this question has really changed throughout his life.

It’s tough to know given that Otolin doesn’t comment much, if not at all, on any relationships in a romantic sense, whether past or present. 

However, he does tend to gravitate more toward women though he has had relationships with men in the past; whether or not these were short-or-long-term is unknown. 

Otolin doesn’t fall in love easily at all, or at least from a romantic sense. 

It’s a word he places a lot of importance upon, and to associate it with a relationship that might have a potential for romance always takes some time. 

In some cases, it can be a long time. In some ways, it’s a word he didn’t really learn until recently. His past didn’t led itself really to an understanding of love, of how that works, and how he navigates through it.

🚀 How far are they willing to go for the person they love?

Looking back on his own history, Otolin probably would realize that he’s gone to some ridiculous lengths for someone he’s loved. Was it worth it? In his opinion, yes. 

In some ways, this was the basis for his entire childhood and early-to-mid adolescence in the commune he grew up with in Gyr Abania. His mother was a rather prominent member and somebody he looked up to, whether out of necessity or not having anyone else around who could serve in that same role.

She was demanding and harsh, but it was due to the circumstances, the time, and the place. To feel validation, or really anything, Otolin went to some great lengths to try and grasp at that. 

It didn’t really work out. In recent memory, there are a few examples that stand out but Otolin doesn’t like to talk about them.

❤️ Do they fall in love easily?

During Otolin’s first few months in Ul’dah, he rented out a room in the Quicksand and made it basically his home. 

He was able to keep his residence for a longer period of time than most due to some favors he accomplished on Momodi’s behalf and provided some semblance of security in the somehow always raucous bar and tavern on the ground floor free of charge. 

Never incredibly decorated or detailed, the room was rather large with a living area, a bedroom with two beds, and a kitchen with a counter. On some occasions, there was enough room to even spar or meditate. 

It was here he also forged a connection with the Elezen thief Severine Sauvageot. Both came from backgrounds that one might call “similar”, but bonded and became friends through various jobs they worked together within Ul’dah’s criminal underworld. She would come by and provide him company, sometimes staying for days at a time.

 Their friendship has lasted to this day. 

Does Otolin experience stress? 

Yes.

But he doesn’t really… show it. 

It’s hard to read Otolin’s expression in a stressful situation, and much of that comes from his training as a child. There are little hints here and there, usually the quirk of a brow or perhaps a small frown, but nothing that stands out or would really elicit any sort of reaction. 

For the most part, he has an excellent “poker face”. One might read him as tired or just annoyed if anything in such a situation.
