Does anyone have tips for checking vegetables with complicated shapes for insects? I love broccoli and could use help with becoming more efficient at the process, and I also usually don’t know when to stop looking (OCD). Even though I live in a pretty Jewish area, I have yet to find pre-checked broccoli. Thanks!

does anyone have any chill jewish/israeli public discord servers (preferably with places to post art too) that accept strangers? i feel like connecting with other jews/israelis online and its very hard to do for obvious reasons so if anyone has any servers they know id appreciate it :)

Hey so, it's gonna be real hot on a fast day where I live and I'm going to be in a performance that day that includes dancing.
Any suggestions or resources with suggestions for how to not harm myself?
I already know to hydrate in advance and I'm planning to have cold packs on me, but any other advice would be helpful!
(Asking here because I don't know where else to ask where I won't have to justify the not drinking plan)
. Anon, you can also see if maybe someone has said something previously in the #jewish fast tag (not sure if they have)
If the days started getting shorter after the solstice (6/21), why did this past Shabbat (6/27) begin and end later than the Shabbat before it (6/20)?

I often see people talk Christians and culturally Christian atheists who have clear (often unconscious) mentalities such as "suffering is good and virtuous" or "there will be a rapture/revolution that will redeem humanity" that persist even if they do not believe in Christ or consider themselves Christian.
My question is, are there any deep seeded yet (often) unconscious beliefs/assumptions/frameworks are common amongst Jewish people, even in cases where people might have stopped practising/believing in the overt aspects of Judaism?
To be clear, I don't just mean things that are destructive or frustrating. I am just generally curious about the aspects of culture and religion that are extremely prevalent in how people might think and behave, even or especially when it isn't consciously recognised a lot of the time.

I don't know if this is common or it's just the minyan I go to, but what would you do if you show up for minyan and it is still definitely the time for mincha (like it's 5pm and the sun sets at 9) but everyone's doing maariv? And I'm not talking about on a Friday, I know shabbat maariv can be early, I'm talking about a regular weekday. This has happened on more than one occasion. I hadn't davened mincha yet because I thought I'd do it with the minyan. What I ended up doing was just davening with them and then repeating maariv at home after dinner, but I don't know if that was right.

would it be disrespectful or inappropriate for me to participate in Judaism in a secular way or to observe and learn about Judaism without being kosher or covering my hair (which I don't believe in)? My grandfather is Jewish and my mom and I want to find community but we're not religious, and I am aware that you don't need to believe in a god the way Christians do in Judaism, but all sects seem to follow being kosher pretty strictly. From the research I've done we'd probably best fit into Humanistic Judaism. I guess I just want to know if (obviously after extensive learning and research) it would be okay for me to be a Humanistic Jew and if participating in the community in that way is okay? (Also furthermore if the answer to the first question is yes, could I call myself a Jew or no?)
