Polychromers Part 2 - Holly
Part 1
A universe where everything is black and white until you touch your soulmate for the first timeâŠ
Was this alright? Holly was staring into the mirror, wielding a mascara wand and frowning at her reflection. She didnât often wear make up this heavy, but tonight was the gig. A rock band called The Hallucinations. Honestly, it wasnât really her thing, but sheâd promised her flatmate sheâd go, and it was too late to back out. Anyway, that would do. Any more and sheâd end up looking like a panda.
âHolly! Are you ready?â Katy bounded into the room, her hair backcombed into a mane, eyes outlined in solid black.
Holly twirled, showing off the clothes sheâd borrowed from Katyâs wardrobe. âWhat dâyou think?â
âOh my god, I canât believe that top looks better on you than me.â Katy pulled a face, and prodded her friendâs arm. âYouâve got enough boob to fill it.â

Gas Station Tubswag AU ficlet (+ Ashwron & Asholly mentioned)
.
"You're always so stressed out, man." Tubbo glances at him from behind the counter where he hunches over his magazine.
There's one good stool in the whole store after the other ones were turned into improvised weapons, and Tubbo has taken a permanent claim to this one that he keeps behind the counter. And when Ash isn't on his feet âstocking shelves, mopping, killing rats, killing...â he sits on the cardboard box that holds their emergency guns.
With their height difference, it puts them on pretty much the same eye level.
"Maybe I'm stressed because I'm covered in blood right now, dude." He deadpans.
"I know, gross." He scrunches his nose up at the sight. "Maybe you need to get laid."
Ash laughs nervously like the air was punched out of his lungs. "What? What are you talking about?!"
"I'm saying, you're always stressed, alwayyys working. You should get laid."
He says it matter-of-factly, barely looking up from his computer science review. Ash just looks at him, trying to decipher what he means. He and Tubbo don't usually talk about love life, not that there's much to talk about... Ash isn't the kind to look at pretty strangers and feel that spark of interest, really.
Maybe he's been too busy looking in Tubbo's big green-blue eyes and fighting off things who wanna pluck them out of his skull, though.
"Uh, I don't know..."
"What way do you swing Ash-swag?" He draws out the nickname that has been sticking to Ash since college, neither mocking nor sincere. "Guys or girls?"
"Iâ I really don't care. Either." It's as close to the truth as he's willing to get this late into their shift, with caffeine in his blood fading away.
"You shouldâ Oh, you should date that lady! The regular, who always flirts with you. She wants you bad."
Ash blinks. "Whaâ who, Molly?! No, it's not..."
He bites back and swallows his denials. He'd have to be blind to pretend that Molly didn't like him. Frankly, she was a charmer too, fun to flirt with when he'd practice his limited knowledge in spanish with her. It's not that he doesn't like her; with her cute accent and her cuter outfits, he could easily see himself going out and getting coffee with her.
It's just, well. He hadn't exactly been able to look her in the eyes ever since a doppelganger of hers had waltzed in, one night. She had convinced Ash to follow her outside for a 'smoke break' and then she it had dislodged its jaw to attempt to clamp its sharp teeth in the muscle of Ash's neck. Not in the sexy way, either.
He still shuddered at the memory of her blood red eyes and the way her lipstick had smudged on her canines.
"N-no. No, me and Molly are just friends."
"Ah, so you do swing for the same team." Tubbo laughs, his loud and sardonic cackle. "Knew it!"
"No! I justâ"
"What about that guy, over there? Go hit on him, come on." He whines.
Ash resolutely keeps his eyes away from the 'guy' that Tubbo's pointing to. He's losing patience on this topic, only entertaining it because, right now, it's either being here, killing more rats out back, or a smoke break. And he's secretly been trying to cut back from three packs a day to.... Maybe two and a half.
"I'd rather not 'hit on' anything in this store, Tubbo, I'd rather not go on a date with some demon or get my dick bitten off if I hook up with one, I'mâ"
"Blah blah blah blahhh you and your demons, that's all you talk 'bout! You just have commitment issues or sumthing."
Ash wants to retort but before this can turn into a full blown argument, the red haired man stands before the counter with a pack of beer and a few snacks. The one Tubbo had pointed out.
"Dobry wieczĂłr" he rasps in his unnervingly monotone voice. He nods at Ash, neutral as can be. "Ash."
"Ohh, so you know each other..."
"Shut up, bro. Just ring him up."
Ash feels almost angry for a moment when he catches the man's deep blue eyes, empty and endless like staring into the ocean. It only serves to remind him of the times this 'stranger' had tried to drown him. Twice. How he'd always pop back up no matter how many times Ash blew a bullet hole in his forehead.
He doesn't know him, because he refuses to get to know this miserable excuse of a doppelganger. Even if this one had never unhinged his jaw, or let his voice drop into inhumane gurgles, or failed any kind of human recognition tests. He was, to everyone but Ash, just a regular guy.
Ash breathes deeply, remember that him and Tubbo didn't run in the same circles in college. Tubbo barely ran in any circles, he was never a people-person. It still makes Ash unreasonably upset that he doesn't see the mockery that stands before them.
Pale skin, blue eyes, dyed red hair with his brown roots growing in. Something uniquely pretty about him. But decisively not Ewron.
Because Ewron had died in a drunk driving accident in their third year.
Ash would know. He spent a full year getting his life back on track after the accident; cutting back on hard drugs and drinking, getting a job again to make up for dropping out. He still feels that aching emptiness in his chest, even with 'Ewron' standing before him, that's how he knows it's not him. Not really.
'Ewron' nods at him again on his way out, smirking, like he knows that soon enough they'll see each other in the woods behind the store and, who knows, maybe this time he'll take Ash's eye: finish the job he'd started with his pocket knife. Ash's scar itches at the thought.
When the store is vacant again, Tubbo elbows him teasingly. "Why do I have a feeling that guy's, like, your ex, huh?"
Ash elbows him back, harder, almost hard enough to push him off his stool.
"Why do I have the feeling you're just bored as hell and looking for entertainment?" His tone comes off sharper than he expected it.
Tubbo just shrugs and observes Ash, expression blank. He's not the type to observe people like this, usually he'd only turn such an observant look to a machine or anything computer related. Being caught in the headlights of Tubbo's eyes makes him squirmy. Sometimes he wonders if his coworker sees beyond just a person, just a human, if he sees something to be tinkered with.
Ash sighs. "Mind your own business, bro. How about you get yourself laid before you worry about me, huh?"
Tubbo laughs and grin. "You don't know me, Ashswag."
