“👉🏽 🏀 🏀” P A R K L I F E . . . 🌳 🎾 ⚽️ 🥅 🏀 🌲 So, I’ve been going to the park regularly to practice my shooting skills mostly but sometimes playing one-on-one or in a team game with some local kids who are at the park. To my surprise some of the kids who have been watching me as I practice have asked me on a few occasions if I play professionally or if I want to join the NBA someday... (probably my attire more than anything else as I always look the part when I play ball lol) To which I usually reply to them one of or all of the following (depending on what mood I’m in lol): - “No, I just used to play a lot in school when I was younger” - “I’m not good enough for the NBA” - “If I get super fit, fix my eyesight AND build a time machine then I might have a fighting chance (lol)” - “I’m too old (quite simply)” Little do they know that I mainly do this for health and fitness reasons as my body functions quite differently to most people’s because of various health conditions I have. I do love basketball though of course (& I hope to see a real NBA game live someday God willing! 🙏🏽) Anyway... Moral of the story is this: Yes kids can be brutally honest at times: especially to adults as they have no filter and aren’t snakey or strategic the way we are with each other - the way we’ve learned to be as human beings. However, these same kids can also be really flattering, honest and endearing in their truth... okay, perhaps somewhat naive a lot of the time but they just tell it like it is and I like/rate that.
