Day 7. Healing

They go fishing, at last. It's surprisingly therapeutic.

Perhaps it’s testament to his love, then, that he stays close, even as they do things he would rather not participate in, otherwise; his back pressed against Angeal’s and a notebook in his hands. He keeps taking notes of things to write in more depth later.

Without Shinra, without wars… he’s free to pursue his love for the arts in full, at last.

His few WRO contributions aside… he’s going to become a novelist.

Day 5. Library

It had always been an unfitting combination; Sephiroth surrounded by books.

“Say… don’t these bookshelves freak you out a little? After Nibelheim…”

“Well… none of the books here hold harsh truths of my origins, so…”

She sucked at chess on purpose. Putting her pieces in the way of his, almost begging for whatever that charade was to finally end at long last. Begging him to unwind a little.

“What are they about, then?”

“Fiction. Art books. Fairy tales about princesses waiting to be rescued.”

“Do you want to be rescued, Sephiroth?”

Day 4. Masamune

In which Sephiroth muses about how his world has changed.

A certain someone once said that the world would change, the moment he took Masamune in hand.

Not necessarily a wrong thing to say, really.

Which makes it funnier that he can't remember that someone’s face or name, almost as if they never existed in that form to begin with. Almost as if either they shifted to suit the situation’s needs or his own world changed altogether.

Strange thing, then, that their words echo in his mind as Sephiroth lazily runs his fingers underneath white feathers to find warm, perhaps fragile skin.

Day 3. Feathers

In which Sephiroth finds himself thinking about feathers, among other things.

It's Angeal’s turn on the guitar.

The tune is somewhat melancholic but heartfelt. Almost like a conversation with oneself, a monologue to a home once lost; Sephiroth finds that if he focuses on it enough, he could fall asleep again due to how soothing it is.

But Cloud never really ceased from keeping him afloat and he isn’t about to stop now.

“Do you ever wonder why wings with feathers, when Jenova looked like that?”

Day 1. Lost

“So, Sephiroth?” Genesis asks.

“He said he was gonna grab something in the car.”

“Do you think he got lost?” Cloud wonders, but he’s not too serious about it. If anything, it's more for the possible irony of Sephiroth being unable to track him down for once, even if his absence is indeed a little worrying.

It gets Genesis to roll his eyes at him, though, which is definitely a win.

“It's Sephiroth, he’s basically like a human GPS. No one’s better than him at that.”

Day 6. Mourning

It's time to go to sleep... Or is it?

But Sephiroth finds that he can't seem to fall asleep just yet.

Maybe he's still overwhelmed, even as he’s relaxed; a strange combination that shouldn't really make sense but that lingers to every fiber of his being. He zones out for a while, shifting behind Cloud in restlessness.

What if he doesn’t deserve any of this?

What if he’s not built to be happy?

Day 2. Youth

Sephiroth's dreams are coated in fox fires.

The little fox looks back at him, but in the end, it’s just a plushie that can’t interfere in whatever is reserved for him in this space, whatever awaits at the end of the infinite corridor.

It’s just with him as a reminder that none of this is real.

He hugs the plushie as tight as he’s able for that, the dusty smells quickly transforming into something more familiar, something cozier; cinnamon, pumpkin, apples and old books. The faint hint of something toasted by a firaga.
