Recently, a good friend of mine developed a rare and serious bacterial infection on a heft valve which required open heart surgery. They caught it at the latest possible time, but they still caught it. The surgery was successfully completed, and she was able to leave the hospital soon after! However, the surgery was extremely expensive and the family suffered working limitations for around a month due to the previously unseen infection.
