i honestly don't know how im supposed to read Magnus Chase #3 after reading the INCREDIBLE masterpiece that is, Schindler's List. the dialogue is really..... no. just, no. i really dislike the first person POV. it's been a solid year and a half (most likely even longer) since ive read Magnus Chase #2, and now im remembering why i procrastinated on finishing this series for so long. my tolerance for YA/middle grade books is incredibly low.

so its actually the next day but i forgot to update :( i read 55 pages of Schindler's List and officially finished it!!!!!! IT WAS SO GOOD 5/5 stars. idk what else to say.

today i finished reading Silently Seduced, around 25 pages. the book was fine. vey informative though i just have a few qualms about his choice for the term "covert incest," though my qualms aren't well-founded so im not going to bother writing them out here. it covers codependency, enmeshment, insecure attachment (anxious, avoidant, disorganized) and then squeezes them all under the umbrella of "covert incest." im not saying that's a bad thing, but i don't know???? i just have some reservations about it but im not really sure why

today i read 52 pages of Schindler's List. i'm about 75% through the book and finally the title "Schindler's List" is being put to use in the story now. i wanted to scream at goldberg for demanding diamonds to put people on the Schindler list because Schindler would NOT do that. i got even more angry with him when he didn't even submit the damn list. sure, he remade the list but there is no chance that everyone who PAID FOR and was then PROMISED a place at Schindler's new camp actually made it. goldberg legitimately had ONE job, shouldn't have even CHARGED for it, and STILL messed up. jesus christ man, that made me SO mad.

just looked at the #atreidescest tag. whaaat there's so little. i know leto wasn't present for very long but still! perhaps this is my calling. fill up the atreidescest tag and preach about how glorious leto/paul as a pairing can be. going to go back to the first book and see what i can scrounge upppp

i actually felt ILL whenever they called each other "usul" or "stil" ... like YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I'M SOOOO--just.
whenever stilgar calls paul 'Usul' ... it is paul’s sietch name also used by others, yet whenever stilgar says it you can feel the tenderness, the worship, the reverence he has for paul. and even though it is not a name exclusively for stilgar’s use, it feels so deep and personal between them. Muad’Dib is just that--Muad’Dib. everyone calls him Muad’Dib but stilgar calling him “Usul” brings them so much closer together. stilgar is implying, “You are my god yet you are also one of my own. Just as you take care of me, I shall take care of you.”
