Hello I'm a sec three student taking pure chemistry and I'm really suffering in the subject. I have done assessment books and look through my notes but I can't seem to do well. Do you have any methods of studying chemistry that have worked out for you? Thanks in advance!!
oh my gosh i rlly hope i can help you because i had a chem teacher in sec 3 who was horrible and my foundation sucked and it just led to sec 4 being a total disaster my o level memories are mostly haunted by chemistry revision :””)
use placards! there’s a lot of memorising for chem (the metals etc) and write down the question on one side and the answer on the other. test yourself every night! (or, i pasted mine on my walls to look at)
you might want to sort of assess why you’re not doing well - is it because you’re lacking in practice, or is it that you dont understand the concepts? if its the former, i suggest doing more o level papers and all the practice papers your teachers give you. look at the answer schemes, highlight what you missed out and the next time you do that question make sure you’ve got all the key points. if its the latter, you might want to book consults with ur teacher and clarify the concept. tbh when you understand how it works you can do any question and it becomes a matter of understanding rather than re-doing.
frankly i made a ton of notes, but do this only if it helps you to remember all the shit they test in exams (i’m a visual learner so i did vibrant colours and all that) instead of copying from the textbook try to note down the process of doing a question, like what to be aware of, or why the answer was like that, or the steps to breaking down what the question requires of you. this will really help when u revise for exams!!
i really just did a lot of practice, consulted my teacher a lot and kept memorising. i hope this works out for u luv (””:
