I was not expecting great things spiritually from this retreat because I knew I was at fault with God and didn't see that changing in the retreat itself. Boy, was I surprised. Basically, I had lied to my father about a very stupid thing a few months ago, still hadn't told him and was being very stubborn about it, so I was feeling very far from God. Though God was speaking to me through the preaching, the cold feeling continued till the last evening service, where Asaph Borba preached on the Holy Spirit, and then made an altar call to those who wanted to basically "reconnect" with the Holy Spirit.

I went, even though I thought not much would happen, but everything sorta happened. I was on my knees on the floor, and I started praying about being filled with the spirit, so I could find the courage tot talk to my dad, and also asking for new spiritual gifts. I remember saying to God: “I want anything you would give me.” Then Bárbara (a friend from my church) knelt beside me and asked God to give me the gift of languages, which is something I always wanted but never got it. At this point, I was already crying so much that my nose was all filled up and I couldn’t breathe through it. Then her husband started praying for me about clarity in all things in my life (which is also a huge issue for me), and Evaldo basically screamed in my ear that God was not giving me things for me not to use, which again, was exactly what I was doing.
