Japan week 6 grab bag
From Wednesday to Tuesday:
水 Heading South at 320 km/h on the Tôhoku Shinkansen (E5 pictured entering Sendai station)
木 Aizu-Wakamatsu's Tsuruga Castle
金 Tônohetsuri, suggested by the guesthouse staff as an alternative to Tadami Gorge (which, while lovely, is a pain to get to around by train)
土 A brief stop at Mito before arriving at Tokyo for an okonomiyaki dinner with Ryo and Rika
日 Asahi-dake (that's 朝日岳 in Gunma, not 旭岳 in Hokkaidô), seen from the Tanigawa ridge
月 JR East's Train Suite Shiki-shima passes the Railway Museum at Omiya
火 "Buji kaeru" means "safe return", but "kaeru" also means "frog", hence these lucky frogs, seen at Shinagawa-jinja on the Shinagawa-shuku Guesthouse staff's walking tour, were the perfect encounter for the last day in Japan
