agree 100% - i feel like now that "mental health" and "self-care" are super popular buzzwords, lots of people basically think that mental health and mental illness are the same and that mental illness can be cured by those self-care methods like taking a walk and doing yoga etc that are helpful for non-mentally ill ppl who are just like under a bit of stress. i think it's harmful because it invalidates the struggles of mental illness. i feel like when i asked my boss for accommodations for mental illness she was super skeptical bc she thinks that like my mental illness is the same as her mental health stress days & i should be able to deal with it by going to our office's "breathing room".

i agree 100%. even shows that get praise for being “honest” etc still make it seem glamorous. i’m thinking about rue in euphoria rn. also lots of shows can do good by bringing awareness & showing some truths but also do bad by simultaneously glamourizing.
