Idk I think my general attitude towards recent live-action adaptations is I’m really tired of them flattening or erasing depictions of marginalization or something that makes characters unique or is important to their personal journey breaking from the status quo. Toph’s “slightly more” feminine and older and Murderbot’s a white dude when will it END
I'd been browsing through some rarepair ships two years back. Some fandoms like BSD, TR, TOG etc.
There's a joy you get when someone gives you kudos on the story, comments about the plot like...yes, this is the type of ship which is not popular in the fandom etc, people don't get why to ship it so whenever I see someone appreciateing those efforts, the love you put in for this for making fanfics, fanarts and merch and anything related to them..it makes me tear up.
Now I'm proud to say I'm a Fanfic author of rarepair ship(s).

I find it hilarious that Kai knows how to rizz someone up but just cannot pull it off and Nya doesn’t know how to but gets all the chicks

There's just something about a walled off character who doesn't show their affections that have their familiar, their car, their magic, their plants, their anything that has the ability to completely subvert that wall and show how they actually feel towards the object of their affections that just gets me
