At our open studio last week, another painter asked if I had thought of wax along with various varnish recipes. That conversation reminded me of this process I noted previously in The Painter’s Companion by Reed Kay. This wax and turps concoction is perfect! I applied it over a few paintings which had been varnished previously and I must say it is a beautifully subtle finish which pulls the work together. Shout out to painter Denise Stewart-Sanabria http://stewart-sanabria.com for reminding me of this!
