So looking forward to visiting the @fristartmuseum this week to learn more about a greatly misunderstood artist, Pablo Picasso. His work has never appealed to me at first glance, but his philosophy, weltanschauung, outlook, principles and ideas sing!! Here are a few examples.... “Everything you can imagine is real.” “It takes a long time to become young.” “Art is the elimination of the unnecessary.” “Everything is a miracle. It is a miracle that one does not dissolve in his bath like a lump of sugar.” “ I don’t believe in accidents. There are only encounters in history. There are no accidents.” “ it took me four years to learn to paint like Rafael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” “ there is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.” “ i’d like to live as a poor man with lots of money.” And on and on. I think we may be distantly related.
