we had our first convene as 8 artists around a paper coated table-top next door to gods house tower, in tower house... with an evening of clarifying and signing off formalities, and early shapes of conversation which started to give form to workshops ahead – tasters of where we're each coming from – and the trickles of thread which started to weave a sense of the projects terrain – and metaphors and humours that may become contours for future building blocks – glue – wires – yarn – tape – trampolines – and other various manifestations that may start to grow from the space and gather momentum and deeper channels of reflection and inquiry to navigating us out – and in – and around this location. the engagement felt as much like exciting grounds for new life as it did as a tracing of the heavy skin of this historical monument – foundations a dead-weight into echoes of roots that will reverberate both haunts and guidance to how we place ourselves -exploring amongst each other – and place the wider venture of a culture we are in the process with -what awaits we don't know... -feelers went out though, and we started to mark ourselves into a dialogue and network of inquiry – the images (in the previous post from this month) give a flavour for some of the scatterings of spores that went out... how will this environment provide for the fertile growth that will feed us – and offer an exchange which can widen the horizons in southampton – and secure it's roots to offer more vibrancy of creative and critical activity – community – and fun!!
