"The shooting down of drones threatening our security is a success for Polish and NATO forces, which simultaneously changes the political situation. In this regard, allied consultations have taken the form of a formal request to activate Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.ā

Olga Lautman at Unmasking Russia:
If the United States were to use military power against allied territory, it would bring the postāWW II security order to an end, collapse NATO from within, and hand Russia the biggest geopolitical victory it has never been able to secure on the battlefield, while placing the alliance on a path where American forces could, for the first time, find themselves in direct confrontation with NATO troops. I wrote about Greenland yesterday and will continue to focus on it precisely because Trumpās threats must be taken literally and understood as policy, not dismissed as rhetoric, spectacle, or bargaining tactics.
Greenland is Danish territory, and Denmark is a NATO member. Any attempt by the United States to coerce, seize, or militarily pressure Greenland would immediately raise fundamental questions about NATOās core obligation of collective defense.
That reality is now being acknowledged openly by European governments. Earlier today, Johann Wadephul, Germanyās foreign minister,Ā statedĀ that Greenland belongs to Denmark and that, because Denmark is part of NATO, Greenland necessarily falls under the allianceās defense framework, adding that any need to strengthen protection would have to be discussed within NATO. Finally, Europe is waking up to the reality of the threat. Statements of this kind are not routine diplomacy, and NATO officials do not publicly raise questions about defending allied territory unless the risk is being taken seriously at the highest levels.
France echoed the same position,Ā reiteratingĀ its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland and stating plainly that borders cannot be changed by force, underscoring that Trumpās threats are now being treated in Europe as a challenge to basic principles of international law rather than a bilateral dispute.
This concern did not emerge overnight. Over the summer, Denmark summoned U.S. diplomats following reports that individuals linked to Trump were engaged in covert influence operations inside Greenland. According to reporting, those activities included identifying politically sympathetic figures, compiling lists of critics, and gathering material intended to portray Denmark as exploitative or illegitimate in U.S. media. The pattern mirrors tactics long used in Russian influence operations, where internal divisions are deliberately amplified to weaken cohesion, undermine trust, and soften resistance ahead of operations.
Russia, in fact, identified Greenland as a vulnerability years ago. In 2019, a forged letter sent to U.S. Senator Tom Cotton purported to come from Greenlandās foreign minister and requested financial support for a referendum on Greenlandic independence. Greenlandās government quickly confirmed that the letter was fake, and Danish and Greenlandic officialsĀ laterĀ concluded that Russia was the likely source. Danish intelligence assessed that Moscowās objective was to sow confusion, inflame tensions between Copenhagen and Washington, and normalize the idea of territorial reconfiguration without the consent of the people involved.
[...]
Any U.S. attempt to coerce or seize Greenland would almost certainly trigger NATOās Article 4, which allows members to demand consultations when their territorial integrity or security is threatened. Actual use of force would push the alliance into unprecedented territory by forcing NATO to confront how it responds to pressure from one of its own members.
For Moscow, this trajectory represents a strategic windfall. A NATO alliance forced to debate how to defend itself from the United States is an alliance already weakened, as trust erodes, deterrence fractures, and collective defense becomes conditional. Russia does not need to defeat NATO militarily if it can watch it unravel politically.
Donald Trumpās threats to acquire Greenland (a Danish territory) could spell the end of NATO as we know it.
2 people, farmers, civilians, NOT SOLDIERS, with families are dead, be respectfull dammit
Poland is not "impatiently waiting to use article 5 and attack Russia"
we ARE however all waiting for Vladimir Putin's painfull death
there are decades worth of history of bloody wars, genosides, oppressions, assasinations, kidnappings, corruption and so SO much more
because of this there is a long history of hate and longing for justice
also millions of poles have families or relatives from Ukraine
Putin WON'T announce capitulation because he KNOWS that would mean his death at the hands of his own people who would kill him in matter of hours
UPDATE (17th Nov. 2022):
Poland is NOT going to force neither article 4 or 5
Polish experts say the missiles used were ukrainian not russian and were probably launched to shoot down rockets fired by Russia but missed and hit the polish border
BREAKING: NATO Invokes Article 4 at Polandās Request
NATO has officially invoked Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty after Poland requested emergency consultations in response to Russian drones violating and striking inside Polish territory.
This step allows the alliance to summon all member states to discuss the security threat and possible joint measures.
ā ļø Important context:
Article 4 does not mean an automatic military response (thatās Article 5).
It can, however, lead to diplomatic pressure, reinforced defenses, troop deployments, or stronger security guarantees for Poland and NATOās eastern flank.
The move signals that the alliance is treating the incident as a serious escalation by Moscow.

So two Russian missiles hit Poland, killing two civilians. Iām pretty sure hitting Poland wasnāt the goal but it happened anyway and now everybodyās just staring at Poland, waiting for them to make a call.
Poland is part of NATO so this could start World War III. I donāt think itās very likely, but I donāt think theyāre going to just brush this off either. I honestly donāt know what will happen.
I read this earlier and I think itās the perfect analogy-
āItās like when you throw something at your sibling but you miss and hit your mom instead and you just freeze and stare at her, waiting for her to do something.ā
Update: Poland is considering invoking Article 4.
Under Article 4, NATO members can raise any issue of concern related to territorial integrity, political independence or national security to be discussed among representatives of the member states prior to taking any action.
Update: As of this edit theyāre now saying that it was a Ukrainian missile that was launched to defend themselves against the Russian missiles. Which I guess would explain Polandās reaction a bit better.
Both sides complicit...still no impeachment or real consequences. Leaving him in office and with influence...also free to run for other public offices. 70 million+ voters backed him and even with the events at the Captiol nothing says those numbers have dipped so much. So if the violent mob gathers again, more die and those reported bombs aren't magically located before detonation we can clearly see it was allowed.
