I have a question which one is more important?
Article 175 or section 230?
With my research I'm going to state what is more important
Section 230 is more important because It is a core protection for anti-censorship where a company cannot be held accountable for every little thing that the person posts They can be held accountable for certain things but not all things and removing it will cause irreparable damage and censorship
It also protects artists music artists music hell it even protects the people who are from Japan that use the apps from the US specifically Twitter and if that article is removed it will affect them as well
Article 175 of the Japanese penal code is not really important All it really does Is cause unnecessary censorship where it does ban obscene materials but All it really does is sensor genitalia in fictional content and real content which is unnecessary and stupid there's already lolicon in Japan and fictional incest So why the hell would they need to sensor genitalia
It's an unnecessary law that is stupid and causes censorship It's like a thorn in your side, I may not live in Japan myself but If I were an artist there I'd find it annoying too Especially when trying to enjoy sexual content just to see a bunch of censorship on genitalia.
I myself read sexual manga from Japan and it's really annoying seeing censorship on genitalia It makes it hard to enjoy
And if that very article is removed it won't change anything other than remove a bar of censorship which is a good thing However if we can't get it removed but rather reformed I'd take that too provided it at least removes the unnecessary censorship of genitalia in anime and manga and overall all fictional content
So in the end section 230 is more important than article 175 Because if article 175 is removed or reformed it will remove a block of censorship but if section 230 is removed or a form it will cause irreparable damage in censorship and I'm talking about the reform that does nothing but cause more censorship
