no, me drawing a pride flag was not intentional.

basically, the colours here are meant to be a representation of joel's life series arc. 3rd life, last life are all fire and blazes and burning red. double life and limited life are the transitionary yellow before secret life, which i associate heavily with the colour green due to it being the first season where joel didn't go off his rocker when he went red. in wild life he won and then died to an ender pearl, hence the more muted blue colours transitioning into a bright purple. also interesting to note his pose - looking back at the red because he's not there anymore, that's not him anymore, he's changed and grown and now there's that purple creeping in around the corner to make him anew. the lines at the right too - horizontal, calling him to move along with them, in their embrace.
