I'm still making studies for my big art piece (the one for my upcoming exam). These are some little paint studies. Skin tones are still incredibly difficult for me, as you can see from the muddy, unfinished portrait on the left... but that's why I'm working on this. The eye on the top right is my favourite of the sketches I made yesterday. The eye looks a little strange but that's because the model was pulling their lower lid down, which explains that. I don't think I should have added the lashes; I didn't have the right brush for it but went for it anyway. Oh well, live and learn. Anyway, I feel like I'm getting better, so that's comforting. I hope you like seeing the process. <33

Ships pt. 3
Some of my favorite ships are on this page. The two big black ones to be exact. The one in the bottom right corner started off with the idea of a ship that had a big yawning mouth that look like it would inhale any ship in itβs way. From there the ship morphed into this big shark looking atom bomb soaring through space. Which I wish i had a model of now that I think about it. The ship directly above it was the idea of taking a flash gordon ship, turning it into a big battle cruiser, and turning it into a pirate ship by painting big sections of it black. I think when I first started sketching it I started off with a jack kirby helmet (you can still see it because of the fins in the back) and then just went to town improvising.
I really liked this ship drawing exercise and should do it again sometime.
