I’ve had a flareup of depression for the last few days.  My dad’s stroke rehab has been slow and frustrating and I worry about his health.  He both wants to retire and doesn’t, and both should retire (for health reasons) and can’t (for financial reasons).  Meanwhile my mom’s chronic pain is especially bad right now, partly because she can’t get enough pain pills from the doctors because OMG people abuse those drugs so let’s make it impossible for people with legitimately debilitating pain to function.  One of my favorite co-workers is facing a possible resurgence of her husband’s cancer.  I’m going to have to put down one of my goldfish, my small Oranda, Frankie, because he’s been upside down for days and definitely not getting better.  My aunt is borderline suicidal because my cousin is a useless, abusive, drug-addicted leech.  There’s been a lot of tension and bullshit at my job about a variety of topics, including an impending draconian crackdown on what websites we’re allowed to visit on work computers.  One of my best RL friends is moving an hour away (although he’ll still be working in town, just commuting.)   I haven’t had the time or energy to play WoW much in the last week and I already feel like I’m so far behind on rep and story in BFA that I get anxious about even logging on and end up watching crap on YouTube instead.  Oh, and our president is still a gigantic asshole who’s speeding toward the edge of a cliff with our country in the back seat and the doors child-locked.

I think that about covers it!

Also, if you’re staggering drunk at 11 AM on a Monday and you’ve already been kicked out of the library for passing out at the computers the week before, maaaaaaaaaybe don’t come back to the library again.  Enjoy your three-month ban.

And to the couple who trespassed in the staff lounge over the weekend and not only stole someone’s lunch from the refrigerator, but also took the money envelope from an employee’s son’s school fundraiser box...go gargle with toilet water.

To the people who return enormous stacks of children’s books that belong to a different library in our consortium:  Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.  We have to print a transit slip for every one of those books individually, sort them into shipping crates, and have a courier deliver them to the owning library.  A few books here and there, okay, fine, that’s part of our business, it’s all good.  But dozens upon dozens of skinny little books that you obviously checked out at that library...would it kill you to return them to that library, too?  It takes up our time and paper, majorly slows down check-in at the busiest time of the year, and it doesn’t benefit our circulation statistics at all, since the items weren’t checked out here.
