Fallout - Arrow Music Notes 6x01
We are back! Five months ago, we were waiting to find out who had survived the Island explosions and the answers were given rather quickly in this fast-paced episode. Â As the episode progresses, we see how this event affected the whole team but particularly Oliver with William and Lance with Black Siren.Â
Arrow 6x01Â âFalloutâ - After thoughts
One previous note, this change in Arrow schedule has drastic consequences for my posting. Arrow now airs at 3 am (ends 4 am) over here, it wasnât exactly great going to work after sleeping just 4 to 5 hours before but now, with just 3 to 4 hours, itâs close to impossible which means I wonât be watching live anymore.
Iâll be watching only on friday night the earliest.
I keep having problems to be online over the Weekends which means I wonât be able to post the afterthoughts before Monday (and this time Tuesday). That leaves the âWhat we know What we expectâ for the next ep to slide to tuesday (this week Wednesday).
IRL and time zones make all the difference Iâm afraid
I watched the episode and I have to be honest it wasnât my favorite. Things felt expected, predictable. Sometimes overly and even unnecessarily so.
Oliver Queen
Mayor, father, Green Arrow... we knew this was going to be all true. All and all Oliver did what circumstances demanded him to do.
No fuss, no muss, he was driven by things. William, the bad guys...
It was a different Oliver? Without a doubt. But I was always waiting for something else... that didnât came this episode.
That Outing was a bit unexpected but totally dejĂĄ vue. Same ol Same ol...
Quentin Lance
Yep heâs here almost up the top why? He was the one changing the pace this episode telling the truth about what happen between him and BS. Someone opening up to other before things turn to a complete mess, a first on Team Arrow if I remember correctly.
We all feel and understand Quentinâs pain.
It is enough to consider drinking yourself into stupor and oblivion (glad he didnât, thank you Dinah). I was happy to watch him speaking about it, reaching for his friends... and finding understanding.
Dinah / BC
Dinah as grown a bit on me this episode. She became the one taking attention to other team members problems, sheâs the one in the know, and sheâs the one willing to step in and help them. She would have grown more if it werenât for the fact that before people turned to Felicity for help and Felicity was the one in the know of others feelings.
That allied with her kicking ass and facing BS this episode makes me think that maybe BC is not altogether lost as a character in this show.
Diggle
Didnât get it; donât get it; will never get it. Diggle was in the war (a violent war); his brother die in that war (or so he thought); his wife was an agent (now head) of a secret (and violent) organization; he worked for said organization; he has been on Team Arrow for 5 years; he shoot his brother; and after all this heâs rendered unable to shoot someone that is threatening his friend for being involved in a blast where pretty much everyone he cares about got out alive?
Iâll have to wait and see but so far it looks like one of those Arrow premises that Writers create just to tell the story they want without much consideration for its credibility.
Wild Dog
That suite isnât all that much of a WOW. It felt like Iâve already seen it in the show, or at least one very similar.
On the other hand I was totally WOW about Rene being great at writing speeches.
William
I know, I know. Your dad died, you went to his funeral. Then a guy came and took you to a house where you played with a weird little girl and a Green Arrow came and save you. Then you changed city somewhere with your mom. Then a guy came (again) and took you against your will (again). Then you found out in fact your real father is Oliver Queen which by the way is also Green Arrow and itâs because of him the guy took you. Then you are left alone somewhere while your father goes after his friends and your mother into a just exploded and still on fire Island. Only to find out you are never going to see your mother alive again.
And now you are angry. Angry with the world but most of all angry with this man that you consider the cause of all that has happen.
As for the episode William played the part, taking Oliver near the edge and considering jumping. But he wonât, he wonât give up. He would never give William up.
And for that to happen there was no need for the soap-opery scene of Samantha asking that to Oliver. She just needed to be dead for Oliver to take care of William, no need for the speech.
Sons and daughters
Kids... kids... everywhere.
The woman sang âItâs raining men, Alleluhyaâ it looks like Season 6 Arrow itâs raining kids...
Not a fan of anything that feels too much. This âeveryone has kids and we need to address them all in the same Seasonâ feels a bit too much.
Still I hope Oliver and William will build a real father/son relationship (loved Raisa input and help on this); hope Slade finds and reconnects with his son; hope Rene gets his daughter back.
Curtis
Something... something... Balls... thatâs about it for Curtis this ep, Balls.
Felicity Smoak
I love her. You all know I do but... was there a point for her this episode? She was full supporting character without much to add. Team members were not going to her for talks (they were going to Dinah). Olicity is drifting along, in peace, but Felicity still hasnât been with Oliver and William together
Iâm all for taking it a step at a time but being that there was a considerable time jump I was expecting they were at least dating and going out for time to time.Â
Thea
Just
Last thought
Hope this is the stumbling beginning of an awesome Season
OH MAN YOU GUYS
CAN YâALL IMAGINE HOW MUCH ROY IS GOING TO FLIP THE FUCK OUT WHEN HE FINDS OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THEA??????

Felicity Smoak was serving Vicki Vale/Batman looks throughout all of 6x01, & I'm fucking here for it.
Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) in 6x01 "Fallout".
Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in 6x01 "Fallout".
