There is no pain. Not at first. After they had succumbed to the kiss they had been building up to all these months, the trickster's magic flows between them, whispering pleasures and promises.

The knife slides deep and it takes the Sorcerer Supreme far too long to realise.

"I'm sorry, Stephen," Loki whispers. "Truly. I meant everything I said. But I can't let you stop me."

A swift touch of a hand to Strange's forehead renders him blissfully unconscious. Heart aching, Loki withdraws the blade from the precise position that has avoided any vital organs and then sends Stephen through a portal directly to Metro-General's ER.

“Yeah yeah yeah, I got it covered,” the raccoon replied with a nonchalant wave of the paw as he barged his way through crowds too tall to have noticed his presence. With the promise of a reward still in his mind it was imperative that he actually get the job done, but…still, Rocket wasn’t about to make it a dull trip. Guy was gonna learn a thing or two travelling with him.

It wasn’t long before he gestured to the metal-clad exterior of an old structure and led the way into what seemed to all intents and purposes to be a bar. Dingy and hazy with smoke from no earthly tobacco, the atmosphere was lively but not raucous: clearly it was early in whatever passed for a day here. That suited Rocket just fine, the place busy enough to find a decent lead but not so crowded as to become distracting.

Eyes narrowed, and it took no time at all to catch sight of a small group playing some form of cards in the corner. “Bingo.” Digging a paw into his pocket, he produced a slim, somewhat battered looking, keycard, and pressed it into Stephen’s hands. “Here, make yourself useful: get three flights’ve rocket boosters, and if they charge more’n fifty tell them where they can shove it ‘cause they’re playin’ you for a moron.” Without a backwards glance, Rocket slipped from Stephen’s side and made directly for the corner table. Well, he always learned by doing – time to see if the wizard was as quick as he claimed to be.

How have you been doing recently, Stark or Strange keeping your interests? I do hope so, they do seem to make you happy. And here, as a tiny parting gift for the near future.

He's starting to wonder if this is one of the Sanctum's ghosts with its grey colour; its tendency to appear and disappear at a whim; and the fact it seems to know about his relationship with Stephen and Tony.

Loki approaches the box and gives it a tentative poke. He picks it up and quits the drawing room in search of Wong. Once he finds the sorcerer, he sets the box in front of him.

"Is this real? I think I'm being haunted."

There's no fear in his voice, although he's perhaps a touch perturbed.
