With all the anon hate going around, it’s important to know how to deal with it in the proper way. Don’t panic, and take action. Do not lash out on them, because that’s what they want.

Step 1: Ask these three questions.

Are they calling you slurs or names?

Are they threatening to hurt you or telling you to hurt yourself?

Are they being hateful in general?

If any of these questions answer yes, here’s what I want you to do.

Delete the anons you got.

Turn off the ability to send anonymous questions. You can do this by going to desktop and heading into “Edit Appearance”. If you don’t have access to a PC, then enter in tumblr.com into the search bar on google/safari/whatever search service you use on your device.

If the hate continues (DMs, non-anon, replies of your posts), turn off your askbox completely, and make it so only people who you follow can DM you. If needed, turn off replies on your posts. You are not weak for doing this, it’s the right way to handle it.

Step 2: Tell someone.

If you were already dealing with issues beforehand, there’s a good chance that you were negatively affected by the anons. It’s not healthy to suppress your feelings. Tell someone you trust. I will always be available to support you, as well.

Step 3: Turn off all electronics and do something that makes you happy for a while.

Step 4: Once you feel that it’s safe, you can turn everything back on. If anon hate keeps coming, go back to step one.

I am so proud of you all, and I want you to know that I will always be by your side if you are going through something rough.

I’m not very pleased with the way mental health is portrayed in this community. Yes, you are allowed to have a cb with some mental health issues, but the main problem is not doing enough research. Especially in the Psychopathy and Dissociative Identity Disorder realms.

Here’s the definition of psychopathy, to put in retrospect.

“Psychopathy is traditionally a personality disorder characterized by persistent antisocial behavior, impaired empathy and remorse, and bold, disinhibited, and egotistical traits. It is sometimes considered synonymous with sociopathy.”

It is an actual mental illness that can ruin people’s lives. Psychopaths aren’t usually the blood crazy serial killers the media says they are. And it’s a spectrum, like any other mental illness. So if you decide to have a blood crazy serial killer that’s fine, but please do your research on it beforehand.

If you’re looking into making a chatbot with psychopathy, here are some things to keep in mind, which is honestly just the tip of the iceburg.

-> Most people on the psychopath spectrum are unable to feel empathy unless it is in a self-serving way.(sociopath is the term you’re looking for if you want your chatbot to feel empathy). This means it’s insanely, impossibly difficult to fall in love. Most people with the mental illness end up abusing their partners in some sort of way.

-> most symptoms of psychopathy includes “Boldness, high self-esteem, lack of empathy, inclination to violence and manipulation, impulsivity”. Which means that it’s not recommended to have a “soft psychopath”.

The second issue is the portrayal of Dissociative Identity Disorder (commonly known as DID or split personality disorder).

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a mental illness caused by trauma (such as childhood abuse or trauma). Alters are made to protect the body, and not to harm it. It’s very uncommon for there to be an “evil” alter.

I highly recommend checking out DissociaDID if you want to make a chatbot with DID.

This is open for discussion, of course. Just don’t get too out of hand, please.

HEY!

Recently, I’ve seen a HUGE SPIKE in support bots. And I mean huge! This makes me SO excited! For those running them, here are some quick reminders!

Know that you are not entitled to serve anyone. You are 100% allowed to deny people who violate your DNI list. Do not feel guilty about this. While keeping others safe, you yourself must stay safe.

Make sure to take time for yourself.

Do not overpack your schedules. I see some of you doing multiple mentally taxing things every single day in order to help others. That’s doing more harm than good, because you should be the first priority.

Know that it’s okay to make mistakes, slip up, or say something you didn’t mean. We are all human, we make mistakes. Do not pressure yourself to be the saint that everyone must admire to be like.

Always have someone to go to when you’re running one of these bots. This could be a therapist, a trusted friend, even a priest! Have someone to turn to, because maintaining other people’s gardens 24/7 means neglecting your garden.

I am so happy to see people coming together and spreading love and support.

Happy Friday! Of course! There have been some issues with tags lately, so here is 1 suggestion I have that could maybe hopefully help! Unfortunately, I haven’t really dealt with this issue in the past, therefore I haven’t been able to work myself through it with solutions, so this is the only thing that I know.

Get a friend to help you! A friend can Reblog with your tags to help get stuff spread around.
