Listening to other people's aro playlists is so much fun because there's usually a group of songs that most people have, but each playlist still has a personal touch.

Songs from musicals that I can project my aromanticism onto
The Perfect Home from The Civility of Albert Cashier. The musicals is one of my favourites, about the life of a trans man who was an American Civil War soldier from history. As a transmasculine person I freaking love this show. The song is a spoiler, but itâs about the guy whoâs in love with Albert trying to convince him (thinking heâs a girl) to marry him, but Albert doesnât want that. I cry. All the feelings.
I Gotta Try also from The Civility of Albert Cashier. The song after the previous one, about deciding to live a good life alone. More upbeat.
Something Different from The Bandâs Visit. The show is about a band that accidentally ends up in a tiny town in Israel where nothing happens and people connect and things change. This song is the main female character singing about her strange and hard-to-define attraction to the main male character. Attraction is weird so I relate. Also a great song.
One Kiss from Bare: A Pop Opera. The show is basically Romeo and Juliet but gay and modern. So sure, the guy isnât really into things because heâs gay, not because heâs aro, but it captures the âheteronormativity is a bitchâ feeling quite well nonetheless.
Touch My Soul from Bare: A Pop Opera. Same show, a little later. The same characters from the previous song. The guy character is rejecting the girl character because he doesnât love her romantically. Itâs kind of sad but also really beautiful.
The entirety of The Bridges of Madison County musical could fit under this. The main storyline is about a woman in a marriage where she doesnât romantically love her husband, and then meets this really hot dude and they are super into each other and have an affair. But it seems to me a lot more like super strong sexual attraction than instant romantic love. All in all, I love it; the songs are great and itâs very reflective of the allo-aro experience. Or they actually are in romantic love that fast and I super cannot relate, being a demi person.
Nichts Ist Schwer from Elisabeth das Musical. The show is about Sissi, empress of Austria and queen of Hungary and her sad life. Here, sheâs married or about to marry (canât remember) her husband. Theyâre singing a love song, but it feels more like theyâre just saying whatâs expected. (#amatonormativity)
The entirety of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. Itâs based on 70 pages of War and Peace and is my favourite musical ever. Natashaâs character can very easily be interpreted as allosexual aromantic, and not to spoil any of the perfect ending, but while Tolstoy might have felt differently, I interpret Natasha and Pierre as sharing a deep non-romantic love of some sort or another.
I Donât Know How to Love Him from Jesus Christ Superstar. The show is about Jesus. Here, his follower and the only female character, Mary Magdelene, is having confusing feelings for Jesus because of course she is. I do relate to the confusing feelings part though. It also works as a song about suddenly having romantic feelings when you arenât used to having them ever.
The Millerâs Son from A Little Night Music. The show is overall very mediocre and about peopleâs lives and love and all that. This song though is about wanting to have a lot of sex and not wanting romance, and itâs a lot of fun, with some great alliteration.
I Love You As Much As Someone Like Me Could Love Anyone from Galavant. This is a musical TV show so sorta different, but itâs my favourite TV show ever so Iâm including it. I feel like this is self-explanatory from the title. The show is Princess Bride meets Monty Python and itâs anything you could ever want in a show.
You Matter to Me from Waitress. I made a post about it here. One of the more loving songs on this list. The showâs about a woman who gets pregnant and is wanting to leave a bad marriage.
As Long As Youâre Mine from Wicked. The show is the Wizard of Oz, from the wicked witchâs perspective. The song is the main character and her love interest starting a relationship, which Iâve always seen as being more sexual attraction than romantic attraction. Grade 10 me had some confusing feelings because of Idina Menzelâs voice here.
For Good from Wicked. This song is spoilery. Itâs about deep friendship. I love it.
Thatâs all for now! If anyone has any to recommend, please comment them; Iâd love to find more! I just went through my music here to find examples so unfortunately most of these songs are about sexual attraction without romantic attraction which I guess says something about how non-romantic love is written.
