アーノルド・ドレイブラット & コンラッド・シュプレンガー Music for Excited Strings（興奮する弦のための音楽） 日本への希少な帰還 ― 福岡での初公演

機械的構造、磁気、微分音、そしてライブ電子変容の交差点において、作曲家アーノルド・ドレイブラットとコンラッド・シュプレンガーは《Music for Excited Strings》を披露する。二人による貴重なデュオ・パフォーマンスであり、初の福岡公演となる。

ラ・モンテ・ヤング、スティーヴ・ライヒ、フィリップ・グラスの世代の後に登場したアーノルド・ドレイブラットは、ミニマリズム、実験音楽、そしてロックの生々しいエネルギーの交わる場所に独自の位置を築いている。彼が自作した《Excited Strings Bass》（興奮する弦ベース）は、1979年に初めて完成した増幅楽器であり、振動・運動・共鳴を融合させるものだ。そのサウンドは空間に響くだけでなく、身体全体に共振する。ドレイブラットの音楽は、物理的でありながら建築的でもあり、深く人間的でもある。

コンラッド・シュプレンガー（本名：ヨルグ・ヒラー）は、作曲家、楽器製作者、そしてアーティストであり、パフォーマンス、インスタレーション、リサーチの領域を横断して活動している。ドレイブラットとは25年以上にわたり共同制作を続けており、エレン・フルマン、オーレン・アンバーチ、フィリップ・ソルマンらとも共演している。シュプレンガーは、電子音響、打楽器、そしてカスタム弦楽システムを駆使し、ミニマリズム、クラウトロック、テクノをつなぐ精密で触覚的な感性をもって、共鳴するリズムの建築を構築する。

二人は、機械と磁力、共鳴とリズムが交わる鮮やかな連続体を行き来しながら、ドレイブラットの代表作《Nodal Excitation》（1979）を新たな《Excited Strings》作品とともに再訪する。

ドレイブラットが前回日本を訪れてから約10年。今回の待望の帰還は、ポスト・ミニマリズムにおける最も独創的で身体的な声のひとつを体験できる貴重な機会となる。アート、ドローン、ロックの世界を、純粋な音響共鳴によって架橋する音楽である。

A Rare Return to Japan — First Performance in Fukuoka

At the intersection of mechanics, magnetism, microtonality, and live electronic transformation, composers Arnold Dreyblatt and Konrad Sprenger present Music for Excited Strings — a rare duo performance and Dreyblatt’s first ever appearance in Fukuoka.

A generation after La Monte Young, Steve Reich, and Philip Glass, Arnold Dreyblatt stands at a unique crossroads between minimalism, experimental sound, and the raw energy of rock. Performing on his self-built Excited Strings Bass— an amplified instrument first realized in 1979 that merges vibration, motion, and resonance — Dreyblatt creates music that hums through the body as much as in the air. His sound is at once physical, architectural, and deeply human.

Konrad Sprenger (pseudonym of Jörg Hiller) is a composer, instrument builder, and artist whose work moves between performance, installation, and research. A longtime collaborator of Dreyblatt for more than twenty-five years, he has also worked with Ellen Fullman, Oren Ambarchi, and Phillip Sollmann  Sprenger bridges minimalism, krautrock, and techno with a precise, tactile sensibility, using electronics, percussion, and custom string systems to shape resonant rhythmic architectures.

Together, they traverse a vivid continuum where mechanics meet magnetism and resonance meets rhythm, revisiting Dreyblatt’s seminal Nodal Excitation (1979) alongside new works for Excited 

Nearly a decade since Dreyblatt’s last visit to Japan, this long-awaited return offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of post-minimalism’s most distinctive and physical voices — music that bridges the worlds of art, drone, and rock through pure sonic resonance.
