Nobody:
My autistic ass flapping my arms for no reason:
(the gif is from the 60s music video The Bird Is The Word hehe)
Basil stimming. as an autistic system Basil does the most stimming out of me, Basil and Aubrey. Happy stims, sad stims, angry stims etc
age regressors who flap their arms when they get happy are so valid!
flapping
when I was younger I was bullied for flapping my arms and it really got to me. it was to the point where I forced myself to stop even though it caused me anxiety and a little bit of sadness. did anyone stop stimming in major ways, and instead developed extreme anxiety? i’m trying to figure out why anxiety around people developed literally RIGHT after I stopped stimming by flapping my arms. it was to the point where my therapist thought I had selective MUTISM and not ASD. so, did anyone else go through this?

I wasn't completely sure I wanted to post this, but I think it's important to show the negative side of hand flapping. With finals coming up, a speech to present, and a 15 page research paper to right, my stress levels have peaked, and this is the result. I aggressively flap my arms and bob my head in an attempt to sort of shake the stress out. I'm also obviously not in my usual all black apparel; this is an old very comfy oversized shirt (4XL I think) and it's all I'm able to handle without being upset. This is the stress side of stimming. (though obviously not comparable to self injurious stims, I still think it's a side of stimming that isn't shown as often, especially with how many "flappy hands are happy hands" things are out there) [description: a white agender teen with a buzz cut and a white t shirt aggressively flaps using their arms and nods their head as a communication necklace on red (for no energy) bounces off their chest]
