the darkness where Ba'alzamon and the other Forsaken hold meetings is the (or probably more accurately a) Skimming realm, which itself must be part of the network of dream-related realms which Tel'aran'rhiod itself is part of, alongside the dark space with no physicality where dreamers can find others' dreams. this is why their rooms are only shaped by someone who exists there, it's why everyone who Skims has to make their own platform, it's why its space is a compacted reflection of the primary world, it's why travelling with a platform is just a question of willing the destination, it's why there's concentration involved and it's nothing to do with the Power - it's just that there's nothing else, unlike in some normal dream realms. it's why i think this in some way also explains why channelers feel that gateways have only one end and not two, but i've not figured this one out fully yet. also a funny thing is this might mean that those who fall in the darkness could potentially survive if they will it, since even if the realm is created from will, it presumably cannot dissipate until it is no longer needed - channeling is only needed to create gateways to and from it

so sick of how i cant look up anything wheel of time without seeing that stupid show. i dont want to know how amazon butchered everything, i dont want to see the actors and think of those faces as the characters, i dont want to see those sets and cgi and think of them as representative of that world. i can't block all the tags on tumblr specific to the show, and even if i could, people still just post stuff generally tagging it as wheel of time stuff and not as specifically the show. i can't just browse tags specifically about the books because show discussion and images still creep in. and no other place's search engine has a functioning tag system and so there's not even a hope of filtering this shit out. i know all this and yet on occasion i try, because i want to see what people think of the books specifically and if anyone's spotted what i have. it usually takes me less than 10s of trying to filter on here before i realise i have no chance. fuck amazon for making it impossible to engage with people over this book series and only the book series
giving up on the hope that minecraft horror will ever be anything other than unfitting models and animations, overreliance on some kind of curse emerged from personal drama, jumpscares that don't really do anything, and an obnoxious degree of suburban christianness infused into everything. these people will never make anything actually good, because their fans' only criteria for whether the projects are good are either that they're sufficiently formula-following and thoughtless, or that they can make mlm shipping art based on them to gibber about on here
that was fun but i wish RDJ hadn't brought back the fugitive doctor. was really hoping that whole mess would be brushed under the carpet. also the main element of the premise, a barber magically harvesting stories, was familiar to me and i cant figure out how. and some stuff about the ep overall felt off but that might just be my unfamiliarity with the source material on top of the usual loose threads and small-ish plot holes RDJ has a habit of leaving

aether for bta is reeeeeeeeal!!!
ive always wanted to play through this mod but never did more than try it. ive not had a proper singleplayer world since i started in r1.5 - i always had problems with every single version of minecraft as no update ever fixed enough messes without adding too many of its own, and there were never enough mods to allow me to fix an update completely, so i never could settle on one version and explore the progression mods for it.
the bta fork is my dream version cause it splits off too early for many problems (the wretched hunger bar, xp, anvils, bloated boring worldgen requiring sprint, combat cooldowns, and the pitiful non-respawning animals of the release versions will not be joining us here), fixes all the bullshit of the b1.7.3 version it used as base (fucked accessibility, inconsistent and lacking redstone, no zoom, no left hand mode, awful texture pack support, no fully 3d skins) and adds enough cool stuff of its own to bring it all up to par to more or less r1.6-1.8, which are my favourite vanilla versions.
ive been playing on a bta world for half a year, which is a lifelong record for me, so when the bta aether alpha dropped i realised this is how im gonna beat this mod!!!
