“Lord Victor?” A grey rabbit with a lavender grey rabbit walked up.
“Yes Wilfred?” Victor nodded to both of them. “Arien.”
“Lord Victor.” Arien nodded in reply.
Wilfred spook up. “Is everything set up? Or do you need some more help?”Â
“It's all ready, I think Picket and Jo are helping Coleden with his outfit.” Victor said.
“You aren't supposed to help Coleden?” Arien asked.
“It depends on the rabbit, Coleden wanted the Fowlers to help him, he said they can help calm his nerves.” Victor said.
“That's good he has friends to help him.” Arien said.
“The Fowlers are good kids, or young adults, I suppose.” Wilfred said.
“Yes they are, I'm thinking of going over and checking on them.” Victor said.
“Shouldn't you give him some privacy? He did request for Jo and Picket instead of you.” Arien said.
Victor sighed. “You're probably right, I guess I'm just worried that's all.”
Wilfred patted Victor's back. “That's normal for parents, best I can do is tell you it'll be alright. But as a parent, I know that won't stop the maternal worry."
Victor was about to respond, but the King walked in at that moment, the Queen at his side.
The huge group of Rabbits all throughout Kingston's courtyard nodded their heads and/or bowed.
“Hello my friends!” The King, Smalden, called out to the group.
Smalden took the Queen's hand and shifted through the crowd and walked up to Victor.
“Hello Lord Victor, how is the ceremony going along?” Smalden asked.
“It's certainly going…” Victor said. “I’m already really tired, and I haven't even got to the actual appointed part.”Â
“I’m sure it’ll go just fine Victor.” The Queen, Heather, said with a soft smile.
“That and you aren't the one necessarily appointing Coleden, that's kinda my job.” Smalden said.
“I still have to go up there, take the medallion off and set it down on the cushion, and give a speech.” Victor said.
“Its not necessarily difficult, my Lord.” Smalden said.
“You realize you don’t have to call me Lord anymore? It's my son’s investiture, so I won't be a lord much longer.” Victor said, glancing around the courtyard looking for Heyna, or even Cole.
“You are Lord until you take that medallion off.” Smalls said. “My Lord.” He continued.
Victor smiled. “You're right again, Sire.”Â
“I try.” Smalden responded, then he turned and nodded at Wilfred and Airen, took Heather by the arm and walked away towards Whittle and Sween.
Victor looked around the courtyard again. “Coleden should be out by now right?” he asked.
“That color doesn't work with the cape Jo.” Coleden said. Cole, Picket, and Jo were all in Coleden’s room trying to help Cole with his Lord outfit.
“Whaaaaaatt? Yes it does!” Jo defended.
“It really doesn't Jo.” Picket said.
“You two don’t have taste.” Jo said, setting the shirt down and picking up another one. “How about this?”
Coleden looked over at Jo, Cole was trying to sew up the cape he was going to be wearing, One of which his father gave him, and Jo kept interrupting the fixing of.
“Just grab a cream colored one.” Coleden said, going back to sewing a small hole up.
“But that's boring! Come on! It's your investiture ceremony!” Jo reached for a cream shirt. “This isn't fancy enough!”Â
“I’m not a king Shanks, I don’t need to resemble one.” Cole responded.
“Well not everyday, but you should get to dress like a king for fancy events like this.” Jo snapped back.
“At a wedding maybe.” Cole said.
“You didn’t even have a wedding ceremony Cole! You just ran off and married without telling anybody!” Jo screamed.
“She didn’t want a big party.” Cole began. “And neither did I really.”
“Stop being so modest Cole! You're a Lord now! Come on, dress fancy!” Jo said.
“Not until King Jupiter-Goodson places Kingston’s medallion around my neck.” Cole said.
“Its close enough Cole, Jo’s right, you can’t go up there in PJs.” Picket began. “You have to dress like you respect the title.”
“I do respect the title.” Cole began. “I’m not opposed to a fancy outfit, but my undershirts don’t come in enough colors to match the cape and the overshirt.”
“You’re rich, you can afford any color.” Picket said.
“I just want a white shirt to go with my black pants, and dark blue cape!” Cole stood up from his position on the floor. “Can’t I dress how I want? I’m not asking to wear pajamas!”Â
“Calm down Cole! We weren't trying to upset you!” Jo raised his hand in fake surrender.Â
Cole flopped down on his bunk. “I know,” He began. “I’m sorry, I’m just stressed right now.”
Picket’s face softened, he sat down next to Cole on the bunk patting his back.
“I understand how you’re feeling–”
“No you really don’t..”
“-Okay I don’t but, Smalden might, you could ask him?” Picket finished.
Cole raised his head. “Just walk up and ask the KING for this kind of advice!?”
“You could also ask your father?” Jo suggested.
“That will just raise my anxiety Jo.” Cole adjusted his position to a sitting upright one.
“Why though?” Picket asked.
Cole looked away from the two brown rabbits. “I don’t want to let him down…” Cole said quietly.
“You do know he won’t ever be disappointed in you for becoming a Lord right? Even if you trip over your own hid paws and fall down three flights of stairs.” Jo said.
“Actually I’d hope he’d be concerned if you fell down three staircases.” Picket said.
“I know, just thinking of unlikely scenarios I guess…” Cole said. “Sorry for yelling at you guys.”
Picket wrapped his one arm around Coleden. “Your good Fow.”
Jo sat down on the opposite side of Picket and wrapped an arm around Cole as well.Â
