REQUIREMENTS: Age range could be anyone from around 24 to 33.
SUGGESTED FCS: Any fc’s of any ethnicity, race, these are foster adopted so they can be from any walks of life that would have lead them to the foster system but would have originally been born and or located at some point in Louisiana.
SPOTS OPEN: 2/2 — one sister, one brother — that were legally adopted; 4/4 foster siblings that were in the Dhingra family at one point or another.
WANTED DETAILS: Ari took over raising his adopted siblings after the loss of their mother and their father mentally checked out. Their father was better at some points in life, but worse at others and he always tried to do as best by them so they didn’t see more struggles after coming from foster care. The foster children that were reunited with their families would have come into the home at different times in life so they could have been adopted / homed as younger children and grew up longer with the Dhingra family or could have been adopted / left the home when they were of teenager age and Ari would have been older!
CONTACT: @cordelianewman ; Yes, please, just to know the basics and chat over any details not listed since this has both adopted and non-adopted siblings.
ANYTHING ELSE?: Any foster children were before Ari’s mother passed as none would have come afterwards due to his father’s mental health. Ari would have attempted to keep in touch with both his adopted siblings and the ones that were reunited with their families as best as possible — within limits. After the passing of his mother it might have gone by the wayside with those that didn’t reside in the home as he was taking care of the two living in the home.

BACKGROUND / BIO

From a young age Ari always knew that he was different. While others were off playing with cars, trucks, airplanes, and other typical boy favored toys, he developed a fascination with the outdoors. Far beyond that of a typical child who enjoyed playing in mud puddles, splashing around, and collecting rocks. A true fascination formed for the bugs that would crawl through the different blades of grass, and how the weather affected the each and every living organism around them. With the outdoors there was a sense of freedom that even in his young age he could appreciate far more than most children his age. Ari grew up in a household full of love, support, and encouragement for doing and being whoever you wanted to be, which was rare from what he knew of other multi-cultured homes he had seen others grow up in. His parents were the one who strengthened his curiosity of his outside adventures. While he was the only child his parents had biologically due to fertility issues, his parents were foster parents through the state of Louisiana, and would go on to foster several children through their home. There was no doubt their household was filled with a lot of love, chaos, and different multitude of emotions when children were reunified with their families. Like anything, unexpected things happened and two of the foster children that came through their household would eventually need a permanent home, and his parents would go on to adopt both his young brother and sister. They got by paycheck to paycheck but they made the best of every moment. From camping every weekend on the summer to small trips to places throughout the United States to enrich their lives with different cultures and communities, their parents gave them everything they could.
Tragedy struck the family when Ari was sixteen years old, his mother had been working a late shift for some extra overtime in order to save up money for Ari’s birthday trip. The dark, rainy, gloomy weather put a cast over the area they lived in of more darkness than they were used too, streets were flooding, but that didn’t stop a drunk driver from getting on the road that evening. Turning a corner a bit too sharply caused a massive several car accident, his mother one of those imbedded into the thick of the crash. Four painfully long days were spent in the intensive care unit before his mother passed away from her injuries, three weeks shy of his seventeenth birthday. To say Ari took the blame for her death personal was an understatement, he fully blamed himself for why his siblings no longer had a mother and his father no longer had a loving wife. Had they not needed the extra funds to support them to go on the trip for his birthday then she wouldn’t have been working, she wouldn’t have been on the road, she would have been home safe with the family. No one blamed Ari for what happened, far from it, distant family members came together and surrounded themselves with unwavering support as did the community around them. It wasn’t easy to deal with the loss, but with that many people around it made it hard to not at least try to deal with it.
Without surprise Ari’s father took the loss the hardest, they had been high school sweethearts from way back when they were both still living New York City, after his father had moved her from his homeland. The pain of losing his partner was agonizing and he could see it in his father’s face every single day that he faced him. Financially they began to struggle more with only one adult and three children he was now responsible for. While Ari continued with his school work he took on a job in attempt to ease the burden of the lost income the family needed, a lost attempt to also assuage his guilt. Keeping the house stocked in food, helping to keep the lights on, and slowly becoming more of a caregiver to his younger siblings than his only parent became his everyday life.
There was no denying on some level their father had emotionally checked out with the death of his wife. There was no doubt that he suddenly didn’t love his children anymore, but the loss he experienced was one so deep that he no longer knew how to function for the family anymore. That was where Ari stepped up as the eldest sibling, making sure his siblings got to school, did their homework, took them out for small treats when he could manage, and doing his all-around best to raise his young teenage siblings as a teenager himself. Not only for their mother but for their father who barely moved from the couch to the bedroom and back.
He did his best with what he had available to him and when it came time to graduate he was supported by his siblings, an aunt and uncle, and surprisingly – his father, who was mostly out of it but he was there which counted for something in his mind. With good grades he managed an academic scholarship to a local college where he could live at home to still help take care of his siblings while going to his classes. The next four years of his life were spent learning to balance his own life, the fact his siblings were almost adults, and his aging father. His studies consisted of Environmental Sciences, it was a place where he knew his passion still belonged and that he wanted to work in the outdoors. His education continued past his bachelors into his master’s degree as his siblings entered into the fields of working and going to college themselves.
Slowly his father deteriorated until he passed away right before graduations and other celebratory life moments for the three children. While doctors said one thing or another, Ari knew what it was, his father died of a broken heart. With his siblings starting to focus on their own lives, he was encouraged by them to start to live his. So, finally, at twenty-four years old Ari packed his bags and headed out west accepting a job as a Natural Resource Specialist in the state of Washington. Over the next few years the job would take him on many welcomed adventures he never could have imagined through states like Wyoming, New Mexico, Missouri, Georgia, before eventually traveling up the east coast.
During that time is when he met Lucie Newmam someone who captured his attention for the first time ever. She had a wild side that couldn’t be contained and a need to be a free spirit, something he could appreciate about the woman. Given the fact his job dealt with the environment Ari could do his job pretty much anywhere depending on what jobs he accepted. Whether that was being a park ranger for a handful of weeks in one state, a water level tester for a couple of months in another , the change was easy enough with is master’s degree. Though the plan was always to settle himself down somewhere more permanent in a job he loved. After a whirlwind time with Lucie there was part of him that felt himself growing too attached to the woman. Sure, he had dated several times in the past before her but he felt tangled webs of complicated feelings starting to fill his head. With the promise of a job offer in California he told her she needed to go and she needed to keep doing the amazing work she was.
Ari packed his bags, hugged Lucie tight, and promised not to forget her. Truth was he had seen how love and loss had ruined his father and living with those stark consequences wasn’t something Ari was willing to live with. He didn’t really have some great job lined up in California instead he continued to float for the next several months, spending some time catching up with his siblings before moving along. It wasn’t until he found a chance at a real dream job that he took the leap and two zoom interviews and going all the way to Maine for the final interview did he land the job as a Wildlife biologist. Packing up he moved to downtown Merrock, giving his siblings new address in case they ever wanted to come visit. When he moved to Maine he was acutely aware that Lucie was originally born and lived in the state but to him what were the chances of him bumping into an old flame when he figured she was still out living the vagabond lifestyle she seemed to always have dreamed about. Plus, out of the whole of Maine, what are the chances she’d find him here, in little old Merrock?
