My mama once chopped off my finger at the first knuckle.

I was a baby, so I don't remember it at all and couldn't even tell you which finger it was, because it was reattached without issue. As far as I know, the story goes that my mum was trying to close the little sunroof on my stroller, I had a hand up in the mechanism, whoopsie-daisy and now my mom is crying at her friends door with my finger in her hand. There aren't even any pictures of me with stitches so obviously it wasn't a major deal but... yeah, my poor mama. 22 years old with her first baby. What a trooper.

She briefly looks down to her hands to confirm her status, then back up only to see one other person with her in the white void.

"...Cinder." Her voice breaks, now understanding what's going on. Tears start to well up in her eyes and she pushes her palmed fists against them to wipe them away from her face, and as she does so Cinder slowly approaches the other girl and gently removes her hands so that she may look at her.

"Cinder, I'm sorry! I couldn't- I couldn't-"

Shhhhhh.

Ruby's interrupted by a single finger being pressed to her lips. Her eyeballs feel like they're trembling inside of her head as she looks at the older girl in front of her. They stay like that for a moment before Cinder speaks again.

I know you'll use this power for greater things than I could have ever done, Ruby.

The amber hued girl places a hand around Ruby's cheek to try to steady her a bit, and takes her hand with the other. A small swirl of magic transferring to Ruby in the process.

I feel like I can rest easy now that I've made sure the Fall Maiden's power goes to you. You always did like to play the hero.

She chuckles.

Well, now's your chance, Little Red.

Tears stream down Ruby's face as she raises her hand to place over the one cupping her cheek.

I love you.

Slowly, Cinder leans down so that she may press her lips against Ruby's one final time, to which Ruby does the same. They stay like that for a moment before Cinder breaks away, knowing that it's time for her to go.

As Ruby watches her to begin to fade away, she presses her forehead against hers and whispers one last thing to her as she looks into her eyes.

"I love you too."

Once again, Ruby finds her vision being consumed by white until she is brought back to the scene where she was before. The Witch that had caused all of this to happen staring unamusingly at the sight of the silver-eyed girl holding the now deceased maiden in her arms.

Gently, Ruby places Cinder down onto the ground and snaps her head up to look at the witch, her eyes ablaze with silver flames.

Salem lets out a horrible screech at the young girl, and sends Grimm arms out to apprehend her, only to be met with resistance by wind magic.

Ruby rises up from the ground surrounded by magic and holding Crescent Rose. Her silver eyes faintly glowing at the sight of Salem as the rest of her teammates look at her. She only has one mission now.

Don't let anyone else die.

🍳 - How well can they cook?

She’s actually decent, not a chef, but she can prepare things that are edible. She mainly learned to do so when in the Academy, and when with Roman.

Not like she likes to cook, though, but if you gave her a recipe to cook something for the first time, she would probably be able to do it without problem. One of her forte’s is that she’s pretty fast to catch up on stuff, so cooking is the same.

👗 - How comfortable would they be wearing a skirt or dress?

She’s more of a pant gal, but at the same time she likes feminine things.

Wearing a skirt or a dress would be more for a special occasion than anything- and even if it really depends on the style of skirt and dress, sometimes she rejects them because her parents made her wear too many boring dresses when she was a kid, and she wants to avoid that.

In the Femme - Butch scale, she’s always around the pink areas of things. Stylish, sometimes cute, but with pants the 99% of the time.

💝 - What gestures do they really appreciate? How do you get on their good side?

Respect. To not have people look her down like if she was inferior or a weirdo just because of her eyes...or her size...or the fact she’s mute.

She likes people who treat her like an equal, and that can understand companionship like Roman did.

That may be easy for some people to do, but then there’s also the fact she’s a criminal and finds enjoyment in breaking the law, so it’s not something everyone would be able to accept of her. And if someone doesn’t approve with what she does, they will lose points for it.

"Hey, Uncle Qrow. So uh, I went in town with Ren and Nora and saw a tattoo parlor and uh..." She pauses for a bit.

"I was wondering if maybe, you could come with me and I could get some piercings? I mean, I have some on my ears and I think they look really cool but maybe I could get some more. Please?" A sheepish grin marks her face as she awaits his answer.

"Ruby, you're old enough now, you dont have to ask for permission." Qrow chuckled, despite the pang in his chest. She really was old enough to do that sort of thing herself now. When had that happened?

"Huh?" It takes Ruby a moment to look at the cigarette before she realizes what the other is asking. "Oh, a light? Sure, I got one!"

Cheerily she hums to herself while rummaging in her bag past the bullet cartridges and her wallet to pull out a lighter with a cute canine design on it.

"Every huntress should always carry one of these." She smiles before flipping it open and holding it close to help the other student light her smoke.

Smirking to herself, the currently dark haired girl stared at Ruby with green eyes, finding it amusing that the other would actually follow the request to light the cigarette up.

Cinder would probably ask for one later, but for now...

The woman let the other lit the cigarette in hand, and once that was done, the mute left it in between her lips, giving a soft nod to Ruby and waving her hand to let her know she didn't need her for anything else.

"Happy Valentine's day! I hope you like it!" Ruby knows that Cinder always appreciates food, so she's pretty confident that she'll enjoy the gift. Still, it's the first time that Ruby's celebrated it with her.

In all honesty, it escaped Cinder that today was Valentine's Day. She has used it before to try and catch Ruby's attention, but it usually just ended making Cinder feel worse, one way or another.

Plus, there was always the downside of the girl thinking that she was not deserving of love in the first place.

To her surprise, though, Ruby had a gift for her this time- chocolates, offered before she even got something for the silver-eyed student in return.

With her eyes widening, Cinder raised an eyebrow and even frowned softly afterwards, taking a step closer to Ruby and picking the offered treats.

Food...chocolate. That was simple, but already perfect.

Trying to push away the negativity she was feeling, Cinder blinked and let her expression soften, all before she chuckled to herself and stared at Ruby with a confident smile.
